In case the Orlando show listeners want to know if I did the Bats Day challenge...

I'm so impressed you did this. I would vote you the battiest person there. :rolleyes1

Thanks, Jack!

I was a really fun day. I got a call from the Bats Day organizer, yesterday, after he saw my blog. Turns out he's actually a DIS Unplugged listener!!!!

My wife and I were actually in Disneyland that day! I saw that this was happening on that Sunday and my wife and I were a little nervous about it. However, I must say it was fun to see everyone walking around. Everybody we met was nice and the outfits were tasteful and fun to look at. It kind of felt like there were a lot of HM and ToT employees walking around the park! :thumbsup2

I recently dubbed Nancy "the female Bob" (in the best possible sense of the phrase), in part because she'll take a challenge like this and run with it. Bob was the same way! You and the girls looked amazing!! Awesome job on the blog and the show!

Pete

I think the Bats Day was a fun segment. Love the outfits!

Thanks, babe! I consider that to be one of the highest compliments I've ever gotten. :cloud9: I think if Bob were still here, we would have been a great pair of compatriots!

I really do love taking chances and seeing where life takes me. You just never know where you will land and what adventures you will have!!!!

BTW - it isn't stalking - it's schmoozing! :thumbsup2

So, then this means you are up for another challenge? Hmmmm -grin-

I got a little behind in my podcasts this week, but finished the DL show this afternoon. I have to say it was by far my favorite so far. I laughed my head off at the Bats Day coverage and Nancy & Wayne going on and on about Pirates. Great job! :thumbsup2:

I haven't listened to that show yet, but I did read the blog. Love all the pictures! It reminded me of a Tim Burton movie! I especially liked the fancy black umbrella in the castle picture that looks like the kind you see in one of those movies. So fun to read about your day.

I'm loving the DLR podcasts! Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

We weren't challenged but we went anyway -celebrated our 1st Anniversary. It was packed, but there was plenty to look at. Having not been before and having no idea what to expect we found it pretty cool -it was obvious that most people put a lot of effort into their look, kudos to them. There were some that were less impressive but what can you do. We would recommend it overall.

FYI: Mo Rocca tweeted this week that he's going to be doing a piece on "Steampunk" for CBS News Sunday Morning. For those of us who are not as savvy as Nancy about subculture fashion trends. ;)

Wish we could have been there with you, Nancy--it looks like fun! How were the lines for attractions? I know you mentioned before that crowds (other than at ToT and HM) tend to be lower on Bat's Day. That alone might make it worth digging out my old 1980's Madonna black lace skirts!

Thanks for the info. We'll set the DVR for it!

Lines weren't bad, but there was the whole issue of Mother's Day and the congestion from the Pirates Premiere and those massive bleachers. They had to reroute the Pirates queue and blocked off the usual walking path next to the Riverbelle Terrace. That forced everyone over the Pirates bridge. What a mess. If it weren't for Mother's Day, I think the crowd level would have been much lighter!

Not sure this is PC, but those are some sexy outfits.

Perfectly fine. There were also some super-sexy guys with the longer "bad-boy" leather coats and waistcoats. Very nice. Steampunk does have some crazy/sexy outfits for both genders. I think that's one thing about it's appeal - the whole corset/bustle era thing - only with shorter skirts! :3dglasses

Finally got around to watching (or fast-forwarding through) CBS News Sunday Morning only to find no Steampunk. Apparently when he said he was doing a piece on the show, he didn't mean this week's show. Either that or the producers decided french lingerie was more interesting. :confused3

Anyway, I'm sure it will be on an upcoming show, as there are photos of Mo interviewing people at the 2011 Steampunk World's Fair. http://www.flickr.com/photos/conventionfans/5746579364/in/photostream/
