In-A-Gadda-Da-Eata - Dining Report 7/27/08 - 8/2/08 w/ Pics - Updated 9/2

I just found your thread via catchy title :thumbsup2 I love your review so far! Can't wait for the next installment popcorn::

Great reviews! Can't wait for more. Boma breakfast looks great, I can't wait to try it next year!!!!

Sorry for the delay in posting. I managed to get sucked into the black hole that is the 2008 Olympics coverage. Don't know if it happens to any of you...but at some point I realized that David and I had literally spent 8 hours watching handball (who knew that was a sport?!), badminton (the only sport where you can hear the term shuttlecock), and beach volleyball (man those outfits are skimpy). BTW, the men's 4 x 100 relay was AWESOME.

Anyways, I will get back to my adventures in babysitting two picky teenagers tomorrow night. Thanks!!

I completely concur. I have been swept away by it too. Then again, I get this way during every Summer Olympics. Yeah, I was literally jumping up and down waking every one up from that relay.

You mean there's other stuff going on in the world besides the Olympics?

I'm home from work today (dentist appointment) and I'm almost glad it's rainy and stormy because it gives me an excuse to stay in to watch more Olympics coverage.

The family was wondering why I was shrieking with laughter (we're all in a rental villa at Hilton Head) and I had to read excerpts from your review out loud. It's so funny.

We weren't able to get the lasagna recipe from Epcot for the recipe thread but maybe you'd have better luck if you wrote now. The recipe was requested before and we have the Guest services Email posted there.

I am drooling over your pictures and laughing at the reviews. Had my DH mentioned that he wished I could cook lasagna like the restaurant did, he might be wearing it. Just teasing ... he once sat at my sister's house and RAVED (I mean RAVED) over the bread she served. I said "It's plain old white WONDER bread!!" (biting back any bad words that might have come out of me at that moment) -- so you see, I have put up with a lot.

Anyway ... I did have to mention not only am I old enough to remember and OWN VINAL (yes we called them plain old records - not vinal) and also can remember a time when we always had paper straws! I also thought I would mention that In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida was by Iron Butterfly 1968 and I love the take on it for the title for your reviews! Keep them coming! :thumbsup2

BTW, the men's 4 x 100 relay was AWESOME.

DH and I were standing and cheering through that last length. Amazing!!!

Your Tutto review was amazing. I SO prefer lasagna with a lovely bechamel. Now where is that drooling smiley?

Where in the World Showcase is Carmen Sandiego?
(please imagine Rockapella playing in the background)

OK gumshoes, in this installment, the Tweedles, David, and I are encounter some Disney magic while trying to determine where in the world showcase the Tweedles will eat.

Here are your clues to the mystery of where the Tweedles would eat: 1. They don't like anything, 2. We already had Italian, and 3. It's on the first page of this thread!!

Still haven't guessed, or just too tired to have to search? Well it was America, of course!! Yes, why eat something new and different when you can go to Liberty Inn at the American Adventure in World Showcase? Here we learned that the American contributions to the culinary world include the hot dog, hamburger, and chicken nugget. We also learned that letting the Tweedles get their way when it comes to dining choices makes everyone happy.

As an aside, I don't have pictures of this meal. I know, I failed miserably. But I have an excuse. And a good one too......Dream FPs. The boys had all ditched me for Mission Space earlier in the day. Which is one of 3 rides I refuse to do at WDW due to the potential for vomiting. Heck, even Star Tours turns me green. Anyways, after being left behind I began to aimlessly wander Epcot trying to figure out what I wanted to do for an hour. At that point, I happened to see that people in Dream Team uniforms were standing only 50 feet in front of me and they were blocking my path. When I reached this gaggle of Dream Teamers and one said "Congratulations you have just won Dream FPs as a part of our year of a million dreams celebration." Then out of nowhere...I start crying like I have just won Miss America. Don't ask me where that reaction came from....it was so silly and I felt so ridiculous. Thank goodness I didn't win anything else because given my reaction to FPs...well you get the idea. They also gave me 3 more dream FPs for the Tweedles and David. Anyways, Mission Space was having problems, the boys took much longer than 1 hour, it had begun to pour, and by the time we got to lunch we were still talking about the FPs. Sorry, but pictures of food was the last thing on my mind. (I do have pics of the FPs, but I didn't want to rub it in too much).

Anyways, back to the food review. I might not have pics of this one, but I will at least do my best to review it.

Liberty Inn at the American Pavilion, not to be confused with Liberty Tree Tavern at MK, is a counter serve in the similar to Pecos Bills and Cosmic Ray's. Though Liberty Inn's fixin' bar is sad by comparison. Their offerings: burgers, hot dogs, wraps, nuggets, etc. Liberty Inn's fixin's bar does however have hot melted cheese (liquid gold!).

David ordered a bacon double cheeseburger. He did not think it was anywhere nearly as good as the bacon double cheeseburger from Pecos Bills.

Tweedle Dee had the hot dog. He turned this into a cheese dog by slathering it in the liquid cheese. He liked it, but wished that the adult meal came with 2 hot dogs instead of 1 since the burger comes with 2 patties. He ate it quickly and then began to scavenge from both my plate and Tweedle Dum's plate.

Tweedle Dum had the chicken nuggets. He ate them all, said they reminded him of Wendy's nuggets (which is a good thing) and also traded me fries for 1 of my nuggets.

I had the buffalo chicken nuggets, which were not on the main menu. They were instead listed on a sign above the cash register. They were the regular chicken nuggets but they had also been drenched in yummy buffalo sauce. I love buffalo sauce.....mainly because it is an excuse to eat lots of ranch dressing. They were tasty. The one draw back? They don't come with fries. They only come with celery slices and I don't do celery. It just brings back unfortunate memories of a 1st grade "ants on a log" project gone horribly awry.

Liberty Inn wasn't crowded, then again WS wasn't really crowded at that time either. However, service at Liberty Inn was horrible. The line took FOREVER! I don't know what was going on, but it was a good 15 minutes after we ordered before we got our food.

By far, the best part of the meal was dessert. We all got the Mickey rice krispy treats (Tweedle Dee initially ordered the brownie. But once he got it, he realized it was sugar free and begged me to exchange it for him). Those rice krispy treats were pretty big, were shaped like Mickey Mouse, and the ears had been dipped in chocolate. Mmmm.....chocolate Mickeys!

Next up is Boma and don't worry I did take pics! (Though some of them are a bit dark).

Congrats on the dream fast passes! I am so happy they would give you three more. When my husband won they made me run up after getting off a ride before they would give us more.

Also got a chuckle out of the "ants on a log" line.:rotfl: Excellent review even without pictures. You have a funny way with words! :thumbsup2

Nothing like paying 27.95 for a plate of chicken nuggets eh? :rotfl:

I would have been thrilled to pay that for nuggets. Better than the air the Tweedles were filling up on that 1st night! :lmao:

HIDDEN MICKEY!

I was waiting for someone to find it!!

We weren't able to get the lasagna recipe from Epcot for the recipe thread but maybe you'd have better luck if you wrote now. The recipe was requested before and we have the Guest services Email posted there.

I will try and see if I can get it. If I find it out, I will be sure to post it on the recipe thread!

Had my DH mentioned that he wished I could cook lasagna like the restaurant did, he might be wearing it.

It was too yummy to waste on him!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: I actually snorted root beer at this line. I can only imagine. :rolleyes1

You don't want to know. Let's just say the boys in my class actually used something OTHER than raisins!

Congrats on the dream fast passes! I am so happy they would give you three more. When my husband won they made me run up after getting off a ride before they would give us more.

I was amazed that they just gave them to me. Mission Space was having major delays at that time, so maybe they knew? It did seem awfully trusting of them.

I was literally jumping up and down waking every one up from that relay.

DH and I were standing and cheering through that last length.

We were yelling when they won and we could hear our neighbors yelling too!!

Oooooh!......Boma!!

Can't wait for that installment. We are eating there next month and I am really, really looking forward to it!

[chanting] Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!

Congrats on the Fast Passes!

And I must admit that in my younger days America Town was the only place in Epcot where I would eat ... my poor poor parents. :sad2:

Looking forward to more reviews. And just so you don't feel alone ... our TV was on NBC all day yesterday, something like 14 hours. We don't normally watch that much TV in a week, let alone an entire day, :rotfl2: but we're total Olympic geeks. That 4x100 relay last night was incredible!! :thumbsup2

And here I was thinking you were born with a culinary spoon in your mouth! :rotfl:

Oh no ... up until about five years ago I wouldn't eat much more than tuna fish, mac 'n' cheese, and cheerios. Some of it was a defense mechanism b/c of my intestinal issues but once I got put on a good medicine I gradually became braver in my eating habits. Now my own family doesn't recognize my food tastes ... they're constantly shocked by the things I'll eat. :lmao:

And now ... back to your regularly scheduled thread! :goodvibes

Just found your thread, and I am very amused reading about The Tweedles! I understand about the Olympics...yes, AWESOME 4x100 last night!!!

Wow, I'm really late joining in :guilty: but I just read the whole thread :goodvibes Great reviews and stories :thumbsup2 Looking forward to the rest!
