OK, We go a good bit and one of our biggest pleasures is the dining. But, I feel that I need to add at least one new dining experience this trip (11/20-11/28). Here are our favorites, maybe some of you could suggest something new to this list (but no buffet.... I am not a buffet fan except for Boma which is my favorite rest. in the whole world... those soups!!).. "must do's":

Boma, La Chefs de France, Le Cellier

Thanks!!!

We've eaten almost every where in WDW. Next week we're trying 2 new one for us. BlueZoo and Bistro de Paris. Saturday can't come fast enough.

Ditto for Marrakesh!

You can always weasel out and get the chicken or beef kebabs (I did - delicious!) But try an appetizer and dessert.

It's a fun place and a lovely one and the food and service are delicious!

My Dh and absolutely love Marrakesh. I ate there for the first time in 1986 with my three godkids. They were teens and a tween at the time and not particularly thrilled with my choice, until they tasted the food (and for the 2 boys, saw the entertainment - LOL) The first time my DH and I went to Epcot I insisted on Marrakesh. He was skeptical, but agreed. Now we don't miss a chance to eat there. We are going in January with my stepdaughter (24) and our daughter (2) - neither of whom have been to DW before and one of the places I'm going to insist we eat at is Marrakesh. We'll also hit China. I've never eaten there, not even a snack, in all the times I've been to Epcot, but our daughter is adopted from China and we know she'll enjoy it. Other favorites are Ohana, Boma and Norway.

We enjoyed the Brown Derby in June, and have tried: Rose and Crown, Rainforest, Spoodles, Marrakesh (loved it), Big River Grille, Coral Reef (least favorite of them all), Mexico. love Alfredo's (just always spend a fortune there),Steakhouse at YC, Artist Point (fabulous)... of course all of the character meals, and lots of the general ones...

Kae, If you had to choose this trip- with one special one, which would you choose : Flying Fish or Cal Grille?? (have made PS at Cal Grille the last 3 trips and somehow not kept them..) I also keep looking at the menu for Narcoosie's anyone tried it lately?? One of these years, we plan to go for V&Alberts.....

Also, for a basic meal at MGM, what is the scoop on Mama Melrose's or the 50's Diner??

All of your advise is welcome! as i said, we have ended up with a few "must do's" so if we get those in, that does not leave much room for new ones. We have PS at Le Cellier for Thanksgiving Day!! so excited!!!

keep that advise coming!! thanks!!

OK, now my interest is piqued with all of your nice commentaries about Marrakesh. :drinking1 Can anyone describe what other kinds of food they serve besides beef and chicken kabobs? What spices do they use in their food? Is it expensive? Are there things on the menu for the kids? What makes it fun? Is it fun in the same way Whispering Canyon or Ohana's is?

Thanks in advance. We'd like to give it a try! :goodvibes

Since you are a fan of the Boma, maybe our other must do's will have some appeal.

Yachtsman Steakhouse
50's Primetime (prefer late lunch here vs. dinner) since we normally only spend a 1/2 day at MGM
Rose and Crown - Epcot WS
LLT - MK (again a favorite for late lunch)

We have eaten at quite a few of the restaurants, and Artist's Point is by far our fav. We enjoy it much more than Le Cellier, or Yachtsman Steakhouse. The food at Flying Fish is also very good, but it can get very noisy in there. If the noise won't bother you, the food is worth going for. I agree with you on Les Chef de France, we love it. I enjoyed Marakesh, but my DH & DS didn't. Most things have kind of a sweet taste, but for a dessert lover like me, it was perfect. :) Everyone has different taste, but some of the other places mentioned we didn't enjoy very much. I won't name them, because I don't want to offend anyone. Two places that we haven't tried yet, but want to soon, are Jiko's & Blue Zoo.

We ate at 9 Dragons (china) on Oct. 9. iMO it was excellent. I had read some less than favorable reviews in the Unofficial Guide but we had good food and good service. I called Disney Dining at 5PM as we were leaving MGM headed by boat for EPCOT. We had a PS already at Concourse Steakhouse(great food, just the wrong location for where we were at that time). CM gave me a choice of seating times, I went with 5:50. We barely made it walking briskly from the International Gateway, I swear that's the slowest boat

DD's 7 &9 had the sweet & sour chicken from kids menu, large portion, they shared our rice. DH and I had the dinner for two, Sesame CHicken and Kung Pao (sp.) chicken. It came with soup (wonton) for the two of us and spring rolls and dim sum for the two of us. Two large plates of entree, the Kung Pao is a little spicy. Th efunny thing is DH is not a Kung Pao lover, he kept eating "my" entree. SO did DD9, she loved it, hot pepper and all. The meal ended with red bean ice cream for all, interesting, similar to vanilla in flavor. Total for all four of us was ~$60, not much more than it cost for us to go to our favorite chinese restaurant at home, but we had the added Disney magic!

Our favorite is Liberty Tree...but it's so obvious, maybe you are avoiding it for a reason!
Artist Point...although it is pricey.
And how about Mama Melrose? We always find this a cool, refreshing, out-of-the-way, relaxing meal.
Nice dilemma this is, huh....trying to find new restaurant at Disney World because you've tried so many of them already!!! Have fun!

While I wouldn't consider it a "must do", our spontaneous lunch at the Grand Floridian Café on our departure day was one of our more enjoyable dining experiences we had on the trip.

It is a small café at the resort that has a wall of large glass windows and a reasonably priced gourmet lunch menu. It was quiet and relaxing and the food and service was outstanding.

I would highly recommend going there for a quiet lunch during a day at MK. You can take the resort monorail around and you’ll feel miles away from the hustle & bustle of the park.

Artist Point is one of my favs too.

Also, I know you said no buffets, but one of our favorites that we feel is kind of a hidden treasure is Akershus in Norway. I know some people don't agree, but lunch is an especially good deal, and we think it has a good variety (and BF doesn't eat a lot of fish, though he will eat the peel and eat shrimp).

Dining, our favorite Disney activity! Where to begin?

Spoodles is a NEVER miss for us. It's so wonderful, always, one of the best restaurants at Disney.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is another never miss. We've eaten there every time we've been to Disney since they've opened. It's kind of expensive, of course, but the food and service are wonderful. Time before last we went with my DD23's boyfriend, who said of his prime rib, "I don't know whether to eat it or frame it." My husband said God was having a cookout and his steak fell off God's grill. Not bad reviews. :)

Beaches and Cream is always fun. Great burgers, good ice cream, good chicken noodle soup w/ Mickey shaped noodles. :)

At MGM we like '50's Prime Time. It's another place we go every trip, though usually it's just two of us and they don't play with us too much. It's more fun with a larger group, but no matter how many people you have, the food's great. :)

At MK we like Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. Yummy burgers. :)

At Epcot we enjoy fish and chips at Rose and Crown. We don't really like Mexico (though the atmosphere is wonderful), and we don't like Alfredo's at all.

Also, if you like Boma, you'd probably enjoy Jiko. It's really yummy.

Hope this helps!

What about O'Hana?? Great food, (all you care to eat, but NOT a buffet) it's fun, and close to MK by monorail!! ::yes::

You had asked about Narcoosees - I love it, that is one of my favorite "nice" meals at WDW. The view is wonderful, and the food was very good as well, nothing too unusual but everything was interesting and beautifully presented. I know many talk about their seafood, but I love their pork - it was outstanding. Same can be said for the pork tenderloin at Artist Point, good prep and presentation, very good food.

For a more simply sit down I enjoyed Yacht Club Galley, and the Liberty Tree, Garden Grill and 'Ohana all offer great family style service and fun atmosphere. Not a buffet, but not a regular menu either (except LTT does have a regular lunch menu). The Major Domo Pie at the castle makes a great lunch or dinner, and I still love going into the castle for a meal even if I can't stand the idea of fighting for a breakfast PS.

There are so many great places to eat in WDW. We love Fultons Crab House & Bongos in DTD, Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, Mama Melrose's in MGM, and just about every restaurant in Epcot. Happy eating!

I am thrilled with all of your responses and suggestions!! thanks for all of the great tips... and of course, more ideas are welcome. Isn't it fun to read what other's special "pleasures" are when coming to WDW? so many think it is just about the parks, characters and rides! We do not eat out at home (live in a hick town it Alabama) and save all of our fun money so that we can eat our way through WDW!!

Love reading your ideas! thanks

DH and I just returned on Monday and we had some great meals in WDW.
It was our first time at Narcoossee's and we loved it. We both had the scallops, fantastic. Oh and the lobster chowder (I think that's what they called it) was fab!!

O'hana was great too. We left there totally stuffed. The meats and shrimp served on the skewers were tasty, seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly. The only thing we found disappointing was that they were trying out sausage in place of the turkey. Would have rather had the turkey. The salad with the honey lime dressing was really tasty and the wing appetizers were good too. Of course how delicious is the pineapple with warm caramel sauce!!

We had our traditional dinner at Tony's. What can I say. Overpriced spaghetti dinner that is pretty good. It's a tradition!!

Caifornia Grill was a wonderful dining experience. Our waiter, Gary, was just perfect. DH had the filet and I had the pork tenderloin. Gary told us they are a wine friendly restaurant. Try before you buy. It was fun. Between salad and dinner, Gary encouraged us to go out to the observation deck for the view. The food was delicious and a good waiter made for a great evening. We will definitly be back next time we're in WDW.
