Impulse buy - what questions do I need to ask before my 10 day window expires?

we were told over and over again about renting points you don't use, and even renting for profit.
I missed this the first time, but go back and check the documents that you signed. I will bet you that the "declarations page", the one where you initial a bunch of statements to indicate that you agree with them, includes one that says something to the effect that you do not expect to be able to make a profit renting your points. I bet there's another one that says you agree not to rely on any verbal statements.

There is another one in the POS forbidding "commercial use" as well - which Disney has decide to use to mean "lots of rentals" and which some people believe cannot be enforced to mean any rentals - but I wouldn't be betting on it. Disney has done a ton of things that we didn't think they would/could do - and if they would say "no rentals" using that clause, it would take a court case to resolve.

Just wanted to point out that you referred to a $10 price difference between direct and resale. We bought our points at BLT resale this fall. We paid $89 per point. We got some 2010 points, all 2011 banked, and all 2012. Our 11 month window at BLT will be just as shiny and new as yours. I get that it is an emotional thing for your DH. I think maybe the term resale rubs people the wrong way. I didn't bother me because every house I've owned has been "resale". I was buying it from someone who owned it before me (just like our points).

So, you are paying $140 for something I paid $89...that's a ***$51 PER POINT price difference***...

I own alot of points at BWV, all in small contracts. I bought direct from Disney on my first contract of 252points and then got smart and read these boards. I added on thru resale small contracts 150 points or less at a very reasonable price compared to Disney. My points do not know they are resale or direct but are equally valuable to me. I went with emotion on buying at Animal Kingdom and boy I could kick myself as I hate that resort having stayed there. Too dark for me and the animals loose their star quality after a week. Luckily I bought only a small contract of 28 points but the impulse buying was something i have lived to regret becausenow those points are basically useless to me when I want to stay ay my fav BWV. I go at the high demand time and you cannot get those rooms at BWV at 7 months. Disney knows how to market and its hard to think rationally when you are entranced. I have loved being a DVC member for the past 11years but paying 140 for BLT seems outrageous to me. I admit I am not a fan of that resort at all so that colors my thinking but I love the Grand Floridian and yet I won't pay that amount for points there. I'll wait for resale . BWV points are still selling for more than I paid for them and I've broken even aloong time ago but then I don't finance either. Owning is a win win but it makes me smile when I can outsmart the mouse
