Impossible to book HHI at 7 mo mark?

Apologize if this has been asked before, but I just tried to book Spring Break in HHI, for 2, 3, or 4 nights, but nothing available in a 1 bd or 2 bd. Is this typically the case for HHI availability during peak times (summer and spring break)? In that case, would you recommend I add on to my current 250 points so that I could guarantee a booking 11 months out?

Spring break and Thanksgiving seem to be more and more popular at HH - part of the reason is lower points and another might be that it is very difficult to get in at the 7 mo window during the summer. That is why we bought a resale for HH so we can go every summer. Just my two cents.

Summer at HH (esp mid June to mid Aug) is very difficult but not impossible. You might request a 2 BR for exchange at one of the 3 OF Mariott's.

We just vacationed at HH in July this past summer. SSR is our home. I originally tried booking 7 months out for the 3rd week in June as an end of the school year surprise for the kids. I had the same problem you did -- nothing available. At least not consecutively. The wonderful woman on the phone at DVC that day told me that I needed to pick a new week and call each morning as soon as the office opens to book each day by itself. I was finally able to get a one bedroom villa for the week after 4th of July. We went from Monday through Friday. I know now the booking abilities have changed that you can now book your whole trip on the first day at 7 months. I would say just keep trying. I did and we finally got a villa. It's well worth it. Our HH vacation was amazing!!!

Thank you for your encouragement! I don't want to add on more points just to get into HHI since for the next 3-4 years HHI is a great alternative until our toddlers get older and will be interested in WDW. I'll keep trying. Thanks, again!

Could you tell me when your Spring Break dates are? I was thinking of doing the same thing. My Spring Break is March 22 - 27. Thanks

Different areas have different dates so March and April would cover it. A lot of schools put their spring breaks around Easter. As of right now, very little availability, according to the new DVC availability thread, for any size unit the week of April 6th.

I booked a 2 bedroom at HH exactly on the 7 month mark window. It was easier this year being able to book the 5 nights on Sept 5 for April 5-10. Last year I called day by day and was able to get the reservation.

I just checked the thread this week for availability and it has tightened up. You may have gotten it at the 7 month mark but there isn't anything now according to the availability thread.
