"Important" question from my 11 year old about cruising to Alaska...

We were chatting tonight about going on our next cruise. This is the first cruise to Alaska for us, first time doing a cruise which isn't a warm-weather destination out of Florida. My 11 year old said she can't wait to have her favourite "cruise" breakfast which consists of a donut and cantaloupe . I then had a horrid thought…but this cruise leaves out of Vancouver, Canada, and I don't know if they have Krispy Kreme there. Does that mean Alaskan cruises don't have the much-anticipated Krispy Kreme donuts?

We have one Krispy Kreme location in BC. It's in Delta which is about 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver.

Well, I guess we need to have them think about Vancouver experiences.... does she like Gelato? Krispy Kreme is too far from the cruise terminal and airport.
Vancouver has some fine chocolate shops!

With strong Pacific Rim cultures.... Vancouver offers a unique high tea experience called "Dim Sum". Great for brunch.

Been on two Disney Alaskan cruises. Both had Krispy Kreme. However, I don't find them appealing on the cruise, they always seem wet. I think they are frozen and thawed out.

Yup. They freeze them during the cruise to help them keep until serving. Guess there's no room in the dry stores for several thousand KK donuts.

On a cruise originating in Vancouver you're more likely to find a Tim Horton's donut on board :rotfl2:

That's what I was going to say. Try Tim Hortons, they usually don't come out warm but some of them are pretty good.

Last summer in Alaska they did not have Krispy Kremes. Whatever they were they weren't very good.

Having cruised 3 times to Alaska with my boys (13&16) I can assure you there are Krispy Kreme donuts on board! Both my boys ordered them from room service everyday!! Being Canadian, Krispy Kremes are a treat as they are not easy to get.

Forget about KK and try Tim Hortons. We had one in front of our hotel and we ate there every day!!!!

There are no Krispy Kremes in Alaska at all. If the cruise ship has them, the are shipped in so not fresh. As a funny Gee Wiz, a lot of kids sports teams, and school functions will fly them up from Seattle area for fund raisers.

Our kids noticed a Krispy Kreme box for the first time on our last cruise sitting out at beach blanket buffet. They were so thrilled that disney uses KK. Random, but it made an impression on them.

Thanks for the responses! We're Canadian so have Tim Horton's overload. KK is a novelty as we don't get them often…kind of like having them with cantaloupe for breakfast (still can't believe she's already planning that!)
