Most boards on the Internet require a valid email address to register. While we have never required that, for numerous reasons, we have decided that we need to institute this policy.

If you have only one board name registered to a valid email address this will not affect you.

If you have multiple board names registered with the same email address you must provide a SEPARATE valid email address for each name registered. If you do not you will be locked out of the DIS.

You can change your email address by going to the user control panel and editing your profile.

I would like to point out that you can hide your email address and not accept emails from the board so your privacy is assured.

You will have untill Wednesday 4/3 to accomplish this.
If you have any questions or need help with this, please post on the tech support board.

If you do end up getting locked out of the boards please email user@wdwinfo.com (make a note of this now so you have it if you need it).

Okay, these might be dumb questions, but I want to make sure I understand...

DH and I have one email address for the household and are both registered on the DIS.... so DH needs to get another email address ? And if he doesn't get a new address in time, I'll have to "unregister" him or we'll both be locked out?

Yes and yes.

Getting an e-mail address from Yahoo or Hotmail takes about 5 minutes.

If so - I have a followup....

If you are suggesting that I amend my oldkicker account with a new email addy, that is probably not the best option for me. My email address is oldkicker@hotmail.com - known to many here at the DIS and many outside the DIS. I use the oldkicker@hotmail.com addy to communicate with EVERYBODY, not just the DIS. I'd just as soon NOT set up another.

What happens if we get locked out?

We email the users addy above and we're let back in? (Is that address working now?) What's the criteria?

I've set up other screen names here to have a little fun, really nothing malicious at all. Was I wrong to do that? Am I wrong to carry them on?

I would guess that it is working now, I'm not sure if I understand the rest of the question(s).

That's really not for me to say. I have more usernames than most and I just had to abandon them.



I am in the same boat as you kicker. Difference being I have always used a secondary account for my address until now. If you can remember all of the old user names, we can try to help you determine if the addresses are the same or different, but that is up to you.

We can't change them for you, nor can we determine what accounts you may have had in the past.

The only other option I can suggest is set up a POP3 account somewhere and just use that here as your registered account. Have that account foward all of your mail to the hotmail account. It would be transparent to everyone else but you, and you can guarantee that you won't get locked out.

DH tried to access his profile to change his email address -- but it's been so long since he's logged on that he can't remember his password... I logged off and he tried to use the "did you forget your password" feature, but when we received the email about what to do it was addressed to me (and I don't want to make any changes)... how do we go about retrieving DH's password?
