Alaska has just added a $15.00 first bag fee.
Delta (INTERNATIONAL ONLY) has added a $50.00 second bag fee.
US AIR - it's an extra $5.00 for airport bag check. If you do it online, that $5.00 fee is waived.

Just for you to know, there is no charge on car seats, reasonable size strollers, and you may carry on a diaper bag for lap or seated children.

Southwest still has no extra fees for more than one bag.

:dance3: Never fly anything but southwest, unless we need to go somewhere they don't. then it is as close as possible on sw & then another airline or maybe even the train or bus, depending on cost!

We're flying AirTran in June. FYI, the weight limit is 50lbs not 70. Overweight baggage fees: 51-70 lbs $39, 71-100 lbs $79.

I am worried about the weight on the return flight when I won't have my bathroom scale with me to check!:scared:

OH, drat at Alaska! It says that it starts May 1 for travel starting July 1, so it doesn't change our upcoming flight with them, but in the future it does! AUGH.

We almost always fly Southwest.
I wanted to mention, too, that they have updated the cattle call that used to be their boarding system.

Now, you check in online 24 hours before your flight and can print your boarding pass at home. The difference is, you get a letter AND a number. So, when it comes time to board, you get into an appropriate section within your boarding group. I think this will help a great deal with the chaos that can be pre-boarding and boarding.

And, yes - two free bags with a combined size of 62" (length + height + width) and up to 50 pounds each as well as a personal item to carry-on free.

Can't beat it.

I'm with you.....SW is ALWAYS are first choice. They are the only airline with some sense...and, interestingly enough, still not suffering horribly financially!

So for Southwest, those rules are "per person," correct--i.e. each person can check 2 bags free? So altogether, my family of four can check 8 bags, plus we can each carry on one bag? (not that I think that we'll need that many bags, but just in case! :confused3:rotfl:)

You got it! :thumbsup2
