I posted this on the Community Board, but also wanted to post here.

Out of my time of sorrow has come a great joy. My mom passed away on 8/26/2008 and I have had a very difficult time dealing with the pain and sorrow and loneliness. Today, I received a letter saying that because I chose to donate her eye tissue, 2 people have already had their sight restored. This brings great joy to my broken heart. My beautiful mother lives on in 2 lives and what could be better than that.

How wonderful Suzanne......I think there are many who have this on their license, I know my daughters do.. This must be of great comfort knowing that your Mom has helped two people with their sight.

Awesome! My mom passed almost two years ago and really wanted to be an organ donor but because of her cancer she couldn't be.

One of our adult sons gave a kidney to a friend of ours about 6 years ago. We were so proud of him. Because of his gift this friend was allowed to continue living and watch his son grow up.

This is a wonderful thing. My mom was an organ and tissue donor. I am one, my daughter is, too. Once I have no more need of my body, I hope that everything healthy will help someone else.

Your Mom has blessed 2 people with sight :lovestruc

How blessed those 2 folks are today! :cloud9:

Thank you so much for the gift of life! Two years ago my DH received a new liver after a congenital auto immune disease destroyed his. As a donor recipient family member, I just want to say thank you for being able to take a devestating event in your life and bringing new life to another family!

I am so sorry for you loss.

Thank you so much. I have a cadaver tendon in my knee that fixed my ACL. I am so greatful to that person and his or her family for donating the tendon so I can live a more mobile life.

When my husband passed they couldn't take anything. They were able to use my mothers eyes. I just remember my dad calling my mother beautiful green eyes. It's nice to know that part of her lived on with her cornea donation.

I'm sorry about your mother:hug: Your mother is a HERO for being a tissue and organ donor!! What a wonderful GIFT she gave!! I had a heart transplant 8 years ago and I definitely wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my donor. He is MY hero!!!!!! He died at the age of 12 but he saved 7 lives that day including mine!! :goodvibes I know his Father is very comforted by the fact that at least something positive came from such a tragedy! Thank you for sharing your story!!!!! :flower3:

Thank you for posting. Didn't you have a link to your story in your siggie at one time?

I don't really think she would have wanted me to do that, but I did. I felt it was the right thing to do. She had always made it known to me what she wanted, but as far as organ donation, she said they wouldn't want what she had, so I proved her wrong. I don't believe she would have cared. I feel so happy to have been able to do this for someone else, it gives me great joy :goodvibes
