My DH has a tumor under his arm - on the side of his chest. They sent him for an xray/ultra sound at the beginning of the week, then the doctor called and said that they didn't like what they saw on the films, and wanted him to go today for a cat scan w/ dye to rule out liposarcoma (cancerous tumor). They said that if they saw anything alarming that they would call us by the end of the day today (Friday) if not, they would call on Monday. It's 5:09 right now, and I'm at my wits end waiting until 6:00 (this is the time they called us on Weds. saying that he had to go for further testing). I know that my DH is young (34) and is lucky that he doesn't have a family history of cancer, but he was a first responder at ground zero, and worked there for a year (we moved from NY to Florida in October of 2002) and I worry about what he was breathing in while working there for so long. We've recently moved to Maine (due to a job transfer for my DH who is now working for the dept. of defense) and we don't know anyone up here. It's just hard being far from our family, friends, and not knowing anyone really up here to ask advice on which doctors to see. My husband is in the mind-set of "until I hear that I have something to be worried about, I'm not going to worry" -- we apparantly are wired completely differently -- I hear "possible malignant tumor" and immediately am sick to my stomach with worry. Anyway, I've been a Disboards member for over 9 years so I knew that I could "vent my worry" and there would be some Dis'ers out there who would understand.
