Just to check,

We're staying for a month in the States this August. We're flying into Miami where obviously we will have to clear immigration. When we are flying internally, I assue we will not have to clear immigration at each airport?

We're flying from Miami to Orlando and I don't want to waste another couple of hours of my vacation standing in the line for immigration!

I believe you'll only have to clear immigration when you come into Miami. You'll still have to show your passport when you clear security before any of your other flights, but the immigration hassle should be just once. (Also, be aware that it can be hot and muggy inside the airport in Miami, and it can take a while waiting in line, so try not to be dressed too warmly!) Make sure you don't have any fruit that you're carrying. They have drug and fruit sniffing dogs at the Miami airport! As soon as you get to the luggage carousels, there are restrooms. Then you go through another passport station and you're on your way! Maybe someone who has come through the line as a non-US citizen can add more info!

Yeah I didn't think we'd have to clear it every time. I've already spend more time that I'd like in MIA - FYI there are also restrooms in the immigration area. We know about fruit and have been sniffed by the beagles many a time!We won't be checking luggage so once we're done with immigration we're out of there

If you are traveling only domestically after your original entry to the US, you will not have to go through immigration again.
