Decided that I should probably make a TR about my journey to the WDW CP and living out the dream that I've always wanted!!!

I, lilmissdisney216, aka Meredith, applied for the Disney CP 3 years ago during my freshman year of college at Schoolcraft College. Went through the presentation on campus, submitted my resume, and had my phone interview later on that week.

Little more than 4 weeks later, got my accpetance letter into the program for the Spring Advantage quarter as an attractions cast member. Little did I know my dreams would be shattered into pieces. After getting a call from my doctor and insurance company, it was determine that due to a lack of coverage and more manifested health condition that wasn't readily under control, I would have to put my dream on hold. Now you can imagine that I was more than a little upset but can you blame me!? I had been so excited and in an instant it felt like all my dreams had been stripped away.

Fast Forward to October 2010..............

I had begun to start a new slate. My motto for this year was new year, new school, new slate, new dreams!!! Because I am an avid fan of all things Disney, I knew right around the time of when the WDW CP would start recruiting again and I jumped at the chance to start preparing myself once again for the application process.....

CLIFFHANGER!!!

Will I be able to attend the campus presentation?

Who are the people involved in my CP journey?

Will dad go for the idea of his little princess of 21 years going 21 hours away to work for the Mouse?

Are teeth an issue?

All this and more will be revealed in the next post!!!

Comments are welcome!

Pixie Dust,

Meredith :tinker:

Just seeing if there were any readers out there...*searches* *tumbleweed*Hmmm....where is everyone??

Silly me forgot to introduce everyone involved in my journey to the WDW CP !!!!

First up we have me, Meredith, (21) and an Disney Addict!!! It all started when I too my first trip to WDW when I was about 6 and I loved every minute of it! I enjoyed the shows, the characters, and most of all who can resist the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars [yum!]. The magic has been in my blood ever since and I love to share my love for making dreams come true with others. I'm a first year student at Oakland Community College and I'm majoring in Dental Hygiene. When not in school I'm a busy gal! I work 3 part time jobs at 2 different child care facilities and I babysit. When I'm not doing THAT ( I know, sounds exhausting but just hang in there) I'm hanging out with friends, my wonderful darling fiance, and volunteering for The Parade Company (I wear alot of hats). The last activity is probably better explained in pictures......

No your eyes did not decieve you, that is me holding a giant rabbit head and "riding" a pink ostritich. Believe it or not, those pieces are part of the worlds LARGEST papier mache head collection in the world!!!! I have had the privelege of wearing at least 15 of these pieces of history and they have been nothing but fun!!!

*Ahem* Anywho back to the introductions. Enough about me, here's the rest of the gang....

Elle, my darling "sis" and BFF, (21) I refer to Elle as my "mellower half". We've been friends for about 3-4 years now and met when I was going to school at Schoolcraft in a class with the world's WORST Algebra teacher (believe me if you took the class you would think she was the worst too!!!). Being my wonderful best friend and "sister", she kinda keeps my feet on the ground. We're basically partners in crime and I wish she could do the CP with me (due to reasons that will probably be explained later in the TR, she cannot go with me :( *sad face*). Wish I had hair like hers...

/\ Darling sis and I with the worlds GREATEST desert- TOLLHOUSE SUNDAES!!!

AAAAND LAST BUT NOT LEAST is darling fiance Ben (22). Ben is just amazing what can I say! Just like my sister he is supportive of me 100% no matter what I do and he makes me so very happy. A hardcore christian, musician, and a heck of cook, he never ceases to amaze me. When he found out I was going to be trying for the WDW CP his first words were, "What do we need to do to get you down there?" I absolutely love him and don't know what I would do without him.

Coming up Next: Scheduling Problems and Then some.....dun dun dunnnn!!!!

Pixie Dust,

Meredith :tinker:

Sounds like you have an awesome fiance, and of course there is nothing better than a BFF that is like a sister.:)

Thanks guys!!! Hoping to have an update up either tonight or early tomorrow before work :)

Didn't realize how much I've neglected my TR!!! Yikes!!! Anyways, thought maybe I would post an update (like a month and a 1/2 late).

Scheduling Problems and Then Some...

Now one might think that the process for attending the WDW CP is as follows

1. Get folder
2. Accept Offer
3. Pack up
4. GO!

WRRRRRRRRRONG!!!!

You have to remember that while I am all for getting the purple folder in the mail and taking the whole "lets do it!" approach, there's always going to be the select few that beg to differ. First off there's my darling momma. She has supported me in no matter what I do and want to pursue. She really was influential in my doing the college program and was so excited about me getting accepted for a second time. She was so excited that she wanted to go out and look for "Florida clothes" that day! However, she wasn't the one who's decision was going to determine wether or not I pack up the car and go. Nope, that would be too easy. My daddy would be the one who would have the final say. He's the one who decides all the financial outcomes of the household and researches whether or not a said opportunity would be the best idea for the family or ourselves. Telling him would be the hardest thing I ever had to do and boy was it hard! I hadn't even gotten out the words "I want to go" when immediately he said "No, absolutely not." I was heartbroken that he felt that way and argued for a good couple of hours until it resulted in my bursting into tears and remaning confined by personal choice to my room. Now keep in mind, the clock is ticking as far as time to accept my College Program offer and choose my arrival date. I have only two weeks to decide and with the way my dad approached my wonderful news, things looked pretty gray. I felt heartbroken at knowing that once again I would not have a chance to live out my Disney dream. Would I ever get another chance again......

CLIFF HANGER!!!! What will happen next?

Will I accept the offer?
Does time run out?
Will dad ever accept the fact that I want to go live my dream and get a once an a lifetime experience?
What do my fiance and sister think about me going over 800 miles away?
Will anything else stand in my way?

Find out in the next installment of my journey to the WDW CP!!!

Comments are much appreciated!!!

Meredith :tinker:

Another Michigander here! Were you in the parade this year?

I was actually!! I do the parade and I do various events throughout the year with the Parade Company. I was with the 'Has Anyone Seen Christmas?' float as a Valentine!! Lots of fun! I wanna do balloons next year in the parade and already have my eye on a few.

Just wanted to see if there were any readers out there. *looks around* *tumbleweed* No one...anyone?

Should have another installment up tonight, but at the moment, dinner calls!!

YAY fellow TKer and new reader welcome!!!

"You're gonna starve!"

I know the title sounds crazy but an explanation will soon be provided.

Given my previous installment one would think that things look like a dead end street for me. However, given my determined and stubborn tendancies I was NOT going to give up. I had made it up in my mind that come heck or high water, I would be going to Disney to live out my dream. I had to say no once before and I wasn't about to say no again. This opportunity is just too good to pass up and I wanted to seize the moment and take a step forward into the future.

Tick Tock.
Tick Tock.
Tick Tock.
You never do realize how menacing the sound of a ticking clock can be until you are under pressure to meet a deadline. I had been accepted into the program November 8th and I only had two weeks to decide. It is now 3:30 on November 22nd and my time is almost up. After giving up on all hopes of my dad being remotely okay with the concept of me taking a semester off of school to go work with Mickey, I turned to my final hope. His other half and my mother. She was a firm supporter from the start and she finally gave me the go ahead to log on and officially accept the offer. Tears in my eyes, I went through the motions of paying the program fee and selecting an arrival date. We decided on February 21st cause ultimately it would give me the most time to prepare what is necessary to be able to have all that I needed (plus that was conducive to the time that dad could get off of work). Date chosen and deposit done, I was one step closer to living my dream!!!

Sorry this installment was so short, been multitasking all day long and what not. Will probably have another installment up tomorrow morning before work.

Coming up next: Tell Tale Tears. What will my sister and fiance think about me going to Disney???

I'm in. Glad you are getting the chance to do the program. Can't wait to hear how dad took it, go mom! So how close are you to being ready, packed. It will be here before you know it.
