Mitsokushi Teppanyaki - (dinner) - This is a place that everyone in our group always agrees on, and we've not had a bad meal here yet. While some people do have similar restaurants in their area, we don't, so like to dine here usually once a trip. Except for Dennis, who had the scallops as an appetizer, we all had shrimp app's that are just SO good! and the tenderloin (Jake had chicken) I can usually finish the entire meal here, honest! LOL But I think he gave us extra this time, because there *was* some left.
Sci Fi (lunch) - Evan *loves* this place, while the grownups aren't so wild about it.. LOL but, I do like to let him choose meals, so, we all went along. I have to say, I had a really good lunch here this time! Evan and I shared the Spinach-Artichoke appetizer - it's very tasty, but they're skimpy on the tortilla chips - we only got maybe .. 12 of them? LOL If you ask for more, you can get them. Dave had the chili - he liked it a lot - I tasted it and thought it was just ok, nothing great. For lunch, I thought I'd try something I've not had there before - the Blackened Catfish sandwich. It was great!! Crispy, nicely seasoned, with an excellent cajun remoulade sauce, on a toasted garlic-pesto roll - I ate every bite and swear I could have eaten another! I normally just get a burger, and they *are* pretty good .. but I was really glad I tried this. Evan had a kid's hot dog platter which he enjoyed, and Dave had a burger that he liked also. Since we alternate choices, it might be a few trips before we're back here again, but if that sandwich is still on the menu, that's what I'll definitely get!
California Grill - (dinner) - Once again, my favorite didn't disappoint me .. though it never does! One thing that was reinforced though, and that is .. if anyone's looking for a really 'romantic' dinner, this isn't the place to go! LOL Well, unless you have a private room or something
It IS a loud, busy place! But, SO darned good!
I had that Shrimp Tempura appetizer again - just didn't get enough of it last trip! I also noticed that there's a new sushi sampler on the menu, but I can't find the menu I had right now - I remember that it was $32.50, so it must be some kind of sushi! LOL I'd love to try it, just gotta find someone to have it with me-Dave doesn't like it, and Ev doesn't mind it, but doesn't like it enough to eat a lot of it.
Dave had the Pork eggrolls that he likes - I had a bite and they *are* good!! Ev had eaten some stuff at the concierge lounge back at the Grand, and wasn't terribly hungry, so he just got a Triple Cheese flatbread, and had a bit of my sushi. For dinner, I went back to an old favorite - the Pork tenderloin. It was as mouth wateringly delicious as ever!! Dave had his usual Beef Tenderloin, and enjoyed that too. We had champagne to start our dinner, and a good cabernet with the meal too. I couldn't decide on dessert - either the crepes with pear and cinnamon ice cream, or a lemon and berry thing. I ordered the crepes, and they were good .. and then she just gave me a lemon dessert to try anyway! LOL I thought that was very nice of her!
Donald's Breakfastasaurus - We've had breakfast here a number of times, and enjoy it each time. Good character interaction, and usually good CM interaction too. The food selection as of now is basically the same as always, except that there aren't any breakfast burritos.
Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch) - This place is really becoming a habit for lunch with us! LOL It's another one of those places that we all agree on, we all like, and surprisingly, it's usually easy to get in, even if you don't have a PS.
I had the Fried Cheese again, which I shared with Evan. They use a couple of different types, and it's really quite good. Evan had the New England Clam chowder which he liked, and Dave had the Md Crab, which he said was good! That's a surprise coming from him, as we live in MD, and have GREAT crab soup around here. There wasn't even any left for me to taste! LOL I had the Colony salad again, and loved it. I *do* still mourn the loss of my Shrimp and Grits here ::sniff:: but, this is a great dish as well. Dave and Ev both had the Benedict Arnold, which is basically a corned beef and swiss, and they ate all too. It puzzles me why this place isn't ever very crowded .. but hey, I won't complain, 'cause it means there's always room for us! ;o)
Flying Fish (dinner) - It's been a while since we've eaten here - no reason why!LOL just haven't gotten around to it. So, we decided to switch this for our 'Ohana dinner this evening. I've always liked the Flying Fish, and was glad to be back here again. As a sidenote, it would've been a bit nicer if there hadn't been two couples, who each had really young kids .. probably .. 2 or 3 y/o ... who decided they would totally ignore the kids and sit and chat amongst themselves while the kids literally ran in circles around one entire area of the restaurant! I mean weaving in and out of tables and everything! SO annoying!!
Anyway .. LOL sorry but that made me really mad! ... dinner - I did the Caeser salad, and was quite pleased with it. I happen to love cheese, and there was lots of it grated on this - if you don't like cheese, I *would* make a point of telling them to go lighter on it. Dave had the Peeky Toe crab cakes - I have to say, I tried this, and didn't like it. I thought the ones I had at the Grand from room service that first night were much better. These tasted like deviled crab, and that is not crab cakes! LOL Evan actually had a salad too - unusual for him because he's not generally a salad eater. He liked this one though. For dinner, he had the child's pasta - his appetite can vary widely, from eating lots one day to eating little the next. Then again, I can be like that too.. Dave had the NY Strip steak, and he liked it .. after he scraped all the Bernaise sauce off! LOL It wasn't listed anywhere as being on the steak, and I do think they should've mentioned it. I had the potato wrapped fish - they've changed this a bit, and are using grouper instead of the snapper. Honestly, I liked the snapper for this dish better. It was still good with grouper though. They have also changed the Chocolate Lava cake too
When I first looked at the menu, I immediately asked the waiter about this! LOL and he assured me it hadn't really changed, they just changed the name. Well .. it's not the same. There's no liquid-like center anymore. It IS still a great piece of very, very moist and dense chocolate cake .. like a flourless cake. But .. it isn't the same. Don't get me wrong, I liked my dinner here very much, I was just wishing for things not to have changed! LOL
That wraps up my dining report! Sorry for getting a little carried away <g> with descriptions and such! LOL
