Well, I woke up a day older today -- the last true time I can say I'm 39! LOL ;o)
I have no issues about my age at all, and in fact, I actually look forward to my birthdays!

In fact, I even got up "late" this morning ... 7:30 am (ooohhhh <g>) I got dressed right away and went up to the concierge area to get some breakfast. No one else was up yet, and while I *usually* wake them all with a "Rise 'n Shine, it's Disney time" greeting while throwing back the curtains <eg> ... I figured I'd be nice today! LOL Everyone was up when I stepped back inside the room, and I was very surprised to find a couple gifts waiting for me! I truly didn't expect them, as the camera was supposed to be it! I got a VERY pretty ruby & diamond tennis bracelet, w/matching earrings, and another more casual multi gem bracelet in gold too, from Evan! I kinda felt almost bad getting all this stuff! lol .. I'm not used to jewelry gifts I guess.

We all just kind of sat and relaxed and soaked in the atmosphere a while; I *tried* to read the instructions for my new digital camera .. though I detest reading instructions for anything! LOL I'm hard headed that way - I'd rather just figure it out on my own. I know all the basic functions of the camera, but I was starting to get frustrated, so I gave up for the time being, and decided it was much better to be at the pool, relaxing! LOL so off we went around 10 or so.

The day was on and off sunny/cloudy, though it never let up heat wise .. just hot, hot, hot!! It's not that I'm at all surprised by the weather though, and after so many years of visiting FL in July, I ought to know better! LOL About 12:15, we threw some clothes on and headed over to the Contemporary for our lunch and tubing!

Once we were done with lunch, we had some time to kill before the tubing session - we couldn't go any earlier because they were busy. So we decided to rent some Water Mice -- it's been a LONG time since I did it over here, as I usually do that at the Grand. I'd really wanted to do the Jet Skis, but they weren't available. This was the first ride in a long time where I didn't get "nabbed" for 'speeding' on the water too! ;o)

I'd done the tubing last year, but this year was different .. and WOW was it even better!!!! Last year, we sat inside the tube, either kneeling or sitting cross legged .. well this year, the driver had another option -- a different kind of tube
where you're lying down, on a larger, flat tube, holding onto the handles. I was a little hesitant to do this at first! LOL as I don't have a lot of upper body stregnth. But the driver convinced me to try it .. and man am I glad I did!! You get much more "air" this way! LOL That also meant a couple of bumps and bruises, but it was worth it - it's a blast!!!! And we had a wonderful boat driver too -- we were talking, and mentioned we were staying at the Grand, and he offered to just drive us over in the boat, instead of us taking the monorail all wet back around! Very nice of him, and really convenient too! A note about the Water Mice -- my son is now 12, and I'd been telling him that he WOULD finally be able to drive the Water Mouse alone .. but not so. You have to be 12 AND be 5 feet tall at least, and since he's just shy of that .. no go. He ended up riding with my niece. I've seen this topic come up here and there on the boards, so I just thought I'd mention it.

We all need a little rest after that wild ride! LOL so we chilled and got ready to go to dinner at the California Grill. On the way over, Evan and Melissa hopped off the monorail and went into the MK to get their bracelets for E ticket night that evening, and Dave and I continued on to the restaurant.

After dinner, we all took the monorail back around to the Grand ... and that's where we boarded the Grand I ... yep, I FINALLY got to do this! I'll continue the rest of the night in the next report!

Judi,
A great day and Birthday. It doesn't have to be your "last" 39th. I pick a birthday I like and celebrate its anniversay. Next year celebrated the first anniversary of your 39th!

Sounds like a fun birthday! I've never heard of "tubing" before at WDW...What is that?
