Originally, we were to be staying at the Swan for this trip .. but I just couldn't do it! LOL Besides, I got a very good rate at the GF and decided to take advantage of it.
On this trip, it was myself, DH and DS, and we also met up with some friends several times!

We picked Evan up from school, after I'd run the dogs to the kennel, and
loaded up the fireplace with wood! LOL Just wanted to have it done for Christmas Eve. We got to the airport without incident and checked in. We got the upgrades
to business class, and went to get something to eat in the bar. I'm usually not thrilled with the food there, and just eat it 'cause I'm hungry! LOL But today was good! I had a steak sandwich that was a real steak, and a yummy one too, like a *real* steak. It was on grilled french bread that was all crispy with a lite garlic butter. Fresh cut fries with it also. I will definitely get this again! Ev had gotten some food from BK earlier, and Dave wasn't hungry.

No problem boarding the plane, and we were in the first b/c row. However ... we ended up sitting on the tarmac for about 30 min or so before taking off, because of a computer problem with the phones or something! It's not long, I know.. but aggravating nevertheless.

We landed about 35 min late, though were the first ones off the plane, and got right down to baggage claim. The driver from Limocar Orlando was waiting right at the bottom of the escalator. This was a different guy than the last couple times, and now I wish I would've requested our "regular" driver. He was friendly enough, but didn't help at all taking luggage off, pushing a cart, nothing like that. Then again, maybe we've always just gotten lucky in the past and normal drivers *don't* always do this.

It took a little while for our things to come off the carousel, and in the meantime, Evan had gone into the bathroom and put on shorts and a tshirt! LOL He had on jeans and a long sleeve shirt from school and decided that since he was in FL now, he was changin'!

I managed to keep it a secret that we were staying at the Grand, and it remained that way until we pulled into the portico! LOL I was glad Ev was so surprised, and pleased. The bellmen were quick and efficient as always, and Rebecca was there to greet us too, as always!

(It really is nice, and is one of the chief reasons I keep coming back here --
I love that personal touch, and being remembered. I know it's silly ... LOL
,but ...)

Well ... bad news is, no MB :( At first, when I saw HER, I said OH! I guess
James came through! LOL She knew what I meant and said well .... he DID try,
but unfortunately, I think there is only a honeymoon room left. I said we'd
take it, Ev on the sofa. She said ok .. called up .. but unfortunately, w/n the time she'd left the concierge area and come down to greet us, it was gone! But, we were in SL and in a lodge tower room, for a very cheap price, so I was happy enough! LOL I really like these rooms, like the extra space.

I immediately flicked on the tv to continue with Survivor watching - started
in the limo! LOL While I started unpacking, and Dave and Evan walked over to
Gasparilla to get a bite. I wanted room service, and had a pretty good crab
cake and french onion soup. The crab cake wasn't a MD one .. but still, not
bad at all! It had a good cajun remoulade sauce with it that was tasty. The
guys came back and watched the end of Survivor, and left again to do the pool
for a bit while I finished unpacking. By the time we were all settled in, it was late, and time to turn in, to be rested up for our first full day!

You are all set to start your adventure - thanks for posting!

What a nice first day! I know what you mean about "going home" to the Grand. I feel the same way! Can't wait until our next visit. :)
