I'm thankful for...MICKEY!!! My Thanksgiving '08 TR!: TR Update, Last Day!

First of all, 83 days till my trip! (I swear that ticker is in slow motion.)

And for the big news...

DH accepted a job in the burbs of Chicago and his start date is DECEMBER 29, 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're going home!!!

Congratulations on the job and the move!

You are going to have a busy few months ahead of you, that's for sure. The November Disney trip will still be on, won't it?

I'm very happy that you are going to be able to get settled in closer to your family. Even just two hours away, I miss seeing Jill and Brooklynn as often as I would like to, so I know it's been hard on you to be so far away from home.

I just checked our countdown since I saw your 83. We've just made the leap over into the 70's!

Congrats!!! I want to move to Chicago lol

Thanks!!!

Oh, hon, I'm so happy for you! :goodvibes Congrats on the job offer for DH. Now you'll be closer to family, right?

Thank you!

We sure will be closer to family now! We've tentatively decided to look for a house in the town that neighbors my parents' town, so we'll be VERY close!

Congratulations on DH's new job!! It'll be great to move home. DH and I lived away from my family for a few years after college. Every time we came "home" to visit I was sadder and sadder to leave - we eventually moved back here to NH - and his mother moved here a few years later. It's so nice to be near family - especially once you start to have kids. :thumbsup2 You'll have to write a moving TR! ;)

Thank you!

It absolutely does get sadder and sadder to leave each time we visit. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling that way!

We definitely want to be close to family when we have kids...I would like to be a part-time working mom and it will be nice to have a grandma as a babysitter!

Julie! I'm so excited for you to be moving back home!   Congrats to DH on getting the job he wanted! Yes - you'll have to get to DL before you move back! You can see it in two days if you have to - us DISers know how to get it all in!

Thank you!!!

I NEED to find a weekend to get to DL. I will definitely hit you up for advice on fitting everything in!

Congrats!!!! :cool1: I am so happy your DH got the offer y'all wanted and you get to move back to Chicago!!! You must be so excited!!!

You countdown is coming down nicely!!! It will even better when I get back next weekend!

Thank you! We are definitely very excited. We've been looking at houses online and it's so nice to be looking at houses with grass and trees instead of rocks and cacti!

:goodvibes Wow...I love this place...the only outlet for my "disney addiction". My hubby and teen son like Disney, but they don't LOVE it like the princesses and I do! I got the bug back in 7th grade and can't shake it! I would go every month if I could...alas, I have to reel my excitement in and settle for once a year! Can you believe it???

Anyway, the converting a hater in 7 days intrigued me, so I started reading...my goodness 71 pages tho? I'll catch up eventually! I see that we'll be in Disney at the same time...how cool! I look forward to all the installments over the next 75 days! I agree, the ticker is moving in slowwwww mottttioooon! Can't wait...:yay:

Hello :welcome:

I hear you on the difficulties of waiting a whole year in between trips. Some of these DISers (MeMom, Nicole, luvfigment, wdwgirl03, CharlestonPrincess) have no idea what that's like! But I can definitely relate!

As for converting the hater, I'm not sure how well I'm doing on that front, but that will be determined on the trip!

Don't feel like you have to catch up...there's so much to read and a lot of it is just me rambling to pass the time till the trip!

How do we speed that ticker up?!? :confused3

Are you gonna start a pre-trip?

Congratulations on the job and the move!

And congrats to you on making it into the 70s!!!!

The November Disney trip will absolutely still be on! A little cross-country move can't stop us!

The next few months just got busier...my friend just asked DH and me to be her new son's godparents. So now we need to squeeze in a trip back to Chicago for the christening.

I have to admit, though, that I am very happy about that trip as I thought we weren't going to be able to go to Chicago till the move! :cool1:

YAY on the move and the job!! You sound so happy. It is great that you get to move back close to family. Family is the most important thing!

Congratulations on your hubby's job offer!!! You must be so excited to be moving back 'home'!!!

I am thinking of getting my hubby a Wii for Christmas but he has not long ago treated himself to an X-Box 360 and now he's brought Guitar Hero (do you get that in America?) so I think he's all set on the games consoles for the time being!

Oh and I meant to answer about which attraction I'd like to live in... if it has to be an attraction, I'd choose TTA - inside at night for sleeping, outside during the day for catching some sun! its a lovely relaxing ride and I love relaxing! But if I could choose anywhere in Disney, it might have to be Goofy's Candy Company or World of Disney!!!

xxx

But our Disney Depression in between trips is just as bad.

EXACTLY!!!! :thumbsup2

And just remember I am going to be moving out of the country so it will be 3-4 yrs before I can go back unless we fly from England! :goodvibes And if I remember correctly someone who is writing this trip report went last year herself!!! LOL!

Yes, Disney Depression is bad no matter how long it lasts!!!

YES...family is the most important thing! I can't wait to be closer!

I am SO happy. It's still just sinking in...

Thank you! We are so very excited. The realtor is coming tomorrow to tell us what we need to do to get this shack on the market!

We do get guitar hero in America. And I WANT IT!!!!!!!!! Oh, I think you and your hubby would love the Wii!

Oh, I could totally live in Goofy's Candy Company. As long as you eat one of those apples every day, you'll stay healthy, right?!?

EXACTLY!!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, you must get your Disney fix in before moving across the pond!

You're right...I am VERY fortunate to be able to go to WDW as much as I do. I can't complain!

Here is a fun video tour of MK - just to feed our fever:

Oh, thank you! I'm on my way to watch it!!!

80 days!!!

I'm going to be checking into POP Century in 80 days!!!

Now, please, SOMEONE tell me not to buy another park bag. I already have an Overland Donner bag and a Baggalini backpackish/messenger bag thingy. The Overland Donner is a wonderful park bag. I haven't used the Baggalini bag yet but I will try it out on the trip. So it sounds like i have enough bags, right? So how come I can't stay away from the websites that sell bags?!?! :confused3

It's an affliction.

NewBagMustHaveitis. Induced by DisneyVacationPlanning Euphoria.

Quite similar to NewShoesMustHaveities. I hate to tell you, the only cure is...retail therapy! :lmao:

oooh new bags!!! bags are my favourite thing ever! (ok they come after my hubby, our growing baby and my cats! oh and Disney!!!) But I love bags! After I read someone's disneymoon trip on here I bought a pink bagallini!!! But not sure it will be suitable when I have a baby bump so I might keep my eyes out for what you lucky American's suggest! I say lucky because you get all the good stuff over there, so much choice in everything!!!

Wow! I just took a long leave of absence from the DIS!

I have some fun Disney news to report! My friend, Beth, and her DH and DS might come along with us to WDW in November! Some things changed in their schedules, so they might be able to sneak a trip in! I'm so excited and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The trip is getting closer and closer. Time is flying right now because we're in a mad rush to get our house ready to sell. That's why I have had NO time for DISing!!! We signed up with a realtor and had a stager come over to our house to tell us what to do to get it ready. It's like that show "Designed to Sell", but we have to do all the work ourselves!

We've donated about half of our belongings, put a quarter in storage, and completely rearranged everything else. We've painted all of our kitchen cabinets, replaced the hardware, and painted the whole kitchen. We still have lots more to do. You know how when you watch "Designed to Sell", some of the people don't want to leave after they get their houses all fixed up? Yeah, that's kinda how I'm feeling! Why didn't we do all this 3 years ago when we moved in?!? Oh well! Next time, right?

I'll post pics when it's all staged and ready to go!

I was thinking of PMing you this weekend to see how the move was going. I figured you were very busy with house stuff. It's good to hear from you. We look forward to having you back around when you have the time, but it is understandable why you're short on Dis time right now. I can't imagine it'll be much different for a while - all the way through your actual move.

That's good that you might have some company on the trip. I hope that works out for them!

We're in the 60's on our count! Jill, John, and Brooklynn are going to be there in less than two weeks for their 'friends' trip with a girl she used to work with and her family. They're doing MNSSHP, and Jill is so excited!

Good luck on the rest of all your house-selling activities. Keep us posted when you can.

I hope you sell your house quickly - can't wait to see the pictures!

You are so busy that Disney will be here before you know it! :cool1:

AFter the beginning of October, I should have plenty of time for the DIS. That's when the house goes on the market and we have nothing to do but wait. Oh, and try to make it look like we don't live in the house.

I hope you sell your house quickly - can't wait to see the pictures!

I hope it sells quickly too!

65 days till Disney!

Uh oh.

I think I have to change the title of my PTR.

DH informed me last night that he is not going to WDW in November. There will be no hater to convert.

I wanted to cry and yell, but instead, I calmly asked him why he came to that decision. His answer was as follows:
1. Because he has to start his new job in IL December 29, we will be moving right around Christmas time. Therefore, we will not be able to do Christmas with his family, as planned. To make up for the fact that we will not do Christmas with his family, he will do Thanksgiving with them.
2. He wants to save up as many vacation days as possible so he will actually get paid for the days in which we drive from AZ it IL.

Let the crying commence. :sad1:

I definitely have arguments against reason number 2. Money isn't everything. We'll be more than fine if we go a week without pay.

As for reason number one, how can I argue with him wanting to spend one of the major holidays with his family? Soon, we will be much farther away from them than we are currently. His parents are in California and Washington. His grandparents live 2 hours south of us right now, so we are able to see them pretty often. They don't do much traveling anymore, though, so once we move, we won't see them much at all. So, really, how can I argue?

I did ask DH to consider doing Thanksgiving and Christmas with his family one week before each holiday. I THINK he's considering it.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what he decides...

:grouphug:

I know haven't been on a while (we just got back) but I just wanted to offer you some hugs, hon.

It's a tough choice, I know you'll find what works for you. :goodvibes
