First of all please no Flames. Ok so I'm going on the trip of a life time in May to Paris. I applied for my passport as soon as I knew I was going Feb 10th (more than the 8 weeks I was told). Well now on the news they said the pass port office is on overload because of the new law. So I decided to check the process of my passport and the website said there is no record of my info! My two checks have been cashed so I know they must have it but Im getting nervous. I know they are working as hard as they can but I cant help worrying. Anyone elses info not showing up on the website? :confused3

I am a total worrywart too. (Why would anyone flame you for this?)
Anyway, my guess is since you've had your checks cashed you're golden but since they are so backed up, updating the web info was the first to go. If you are still worried Monday I'd try to get someone on the phone but I think you will be just fine!
Have a wonderful time!

I think it took about 4 weeks from the time they cashed my check to get my renewal.

My parents friends applied for passports in November and it took them until just before Valentines to get them. You still have plenty of time and I would NOT take the word of the website. You can call them but chances are they will just tell you they either are sitting on a desk waiting to be shipped or you should have them this week. Those were the standard answers to my parents friends when they called.

I wouldn't start to panic until mid April! Worse case is that you may have to re-do them and pay to expedite them before you leave. Pain yes...costly yes but doable!

Don't worry yet! They are backlogged due to the new restrictions!
Have fun in Paris!

I got my passports about 8 weeks after we applied. I checked the website every day with the same response -- they have no record of my info. My passports finally came and the website still showed no record of them.

ETA: Actually, I just checked my records - it was more like 10 weeks before I got our passports.

I had no idea it takes this long to get a passport nowadays. I need to renew my children's passports, before we were able to go to the court house and get it done quickly. I better get a move on things.:)

Haha thanks everyone. I guess I just needed for someone to calm my nerves. I just want this trip to go off with out any troubles. :goodvibes

If it gets close to your departure date and you still don't have it (say two weeks), contact your congressman/woman's office. One of my coworkers just had to do this and they were able to get theirs before the trip.:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time in Paris. It's a great city.
