after the cruise. To make a long story short, I was really congested when I left for our cruise (we flew). While on the ship (3 days) I did notice the rocking but I never felt sick or really bothered by it. When we stopped at the islands the rocking continued. After the cruise was over the airport was rocking! The motion continued after I returned home so I went to the doctor. After a round of antibiotics I was still rocking. I recently went to a ENT and they really felt the root of my problem was from being congested in the very beginning. I am on another very potent antibiotic, decongestant and motion medicine. Things are slowly getting back to normal. In a funny way, I get to relive my ship experiences every day!!!

I was just wondering if anyone has had this kind of a problem for such a lengthy time. Thanks

PS. This thread was lost and I never had an opportunity to read any posts, so if you posted please post again!!

How strange. Hopefully with the new meds, you will get over it soon.
I have had rocking for a few days after a cruise, but never that long.
But, like you said, you get to have your own little cruise every day ;)

I was like that for 3 months after our first cruise (4 day). The next year I took bonine faithfully every day on the cruise and the doctor recommended that I take it for a few weeks after to get my land legs back and to cut down on the rocking. I also take allergy medicine and one of my prescriptions is Flonase nasal spray, the doctor recommended I do that twice a day on the cruise instead of once a day. That seemed to help too. Our 2nd cruise (7 day) I only had it for a month. It is called "Vertigo". Good luck getting rid of it. Just give it time. It will go away. We are booked for our 3rd cruise this year I will do just as I did last year.

redisneyfam I can't believe 3 months! Did the drs. seem to think your vertigo was associated with allergies or sinus problems? We are rebooked for a 7 day in December and I thought for sure I would be very vigilent before, during and after with these meds.

Thanks so much for your post, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there. My husband just about thinks I'm nuts!!

My doctor asked if I did my Flonase on the 1st cruise (4 day), I said no I hadn't used my flonase in months before the cruise. He said next cruise to use it twice. I also take Claritin-D for my allergies. Not having either in my system makes a lot of extra fluid on my ears. The Flonase clears your tubes from your ears to your nose. If your equalibriam is not right to begin with it can affect your probability to motion sickness. The bonine did not make me tired, but dramamine does make me sleepy. So I stick with bonine. We have a 7 day booked for June and I hope it is as good as last year's 7 day cruise was. No problems at all with Bonine.

Thanks for the info on Bonine vs. Dramamine.

DreamingofDisney -- Hope you're feeling better soon. This is scaring me (we leave next week)!

I would imagine you will be just fine unless you are really congested like I was and flying too!!

Also to let you know, the Dr. prescribed Meclizine for my motion and it has worked really well, without making me drowsy. Bonnie just about knocked me cold! Meclizine is a very inexpensive Rx and I will be requesting it from our Dr. before our next cruise in Dec. I hope you have a wonderful cruise, we truly had a blast!!
