I'm Sorry...Let's try this again

1. when you buy from DVD you do not pay for year 2000 maintenance fees.
2. I think it's important to compare apples to apples i.e.- the true value of the contract as compared to what Disney is offering. Those extra points from the previous year have a value- with disney it currently is $10/pt if you sell them back via MB.(at least until 4/15) Or with resale, you could rent those for $10/point.Now with the new price increase, the resale price may go up also.
3. Of course I expect to pay less when not using a middle man- brokers have expensives to run offices, advertise, etc. An individual seller has minimal expense if he's selling to an acquaintance.
4. My previous post was only my suggestion- in a hot market, anything can happen- look at ebay and point rentals. But if the deal falls through and seller has to list with an agent he will have to pay a commission- and end up with less money. It makes sense that each party come to an agreement that is beneficial to all.
5. Personally, I chose to get a contract with all 2000 and 2001 points available. That way I felt I was getting a deal similar to Disney, for less $ and where I wanted to be (BWV). So maybe I got lucky. Everyone on this board encouraged me to make these comparisons and to not be afraid to negotiate. It was the best advice I received (other than buy where you plan to stay)
6. If you are happy with this deal and it seems reasonable to you - go for it!
