I'm Soooo Sick Of It... And I bet you are too!

We experience the same thing. We've been going since our honeymoon in 1994. We've been every year since, with the exception of 2000. Some years we've gone 2x, we even went 3x last year. Love those AP's. We're leaving 7/2 for a 7 night trip. Can't wait.

These people who wonder why in the world you keep going back to Disney...they are probably the same people who visit the same beach every year, rent the same house or stay at the same hotel. What's the difference? They just don't get the magic - and they probably never will. We have a couple of friends who are obsessed like us - so that makes it easy.

Don't keep your trips a secret - shout it from the rooftops.

me again. I must leave you with a conversation I had with a co-worker. This was a while ago...back in the 90's.

He said to me, "You're going to Disney again? You need to broaden your horizons."

I said, "I did, I rode it three times during our last trip." :rotfl2:

Of course he had no idea what I was talking about, and I politely walked off with satisfaction written all over my face. This from a man who is so cheap, yet quite wealthy, that he stays at Holiday Inns wherever he goes. :confused3

It's hard for me I keep my vacation a secrect until the last possible minute from our families but I have a 4yy DD who is so completely excited to go and see Peter Pan that she tells everyone. My family doesn't understand the word "VACATION". And I am always getting the " Your going to WDW AGAIN!!!" I sometimes want to jump out of my skin and scream " It's my family ,my vacation, and my money I'll take my DA** vacation were I want!!!" That's why I love the DIS so much you all understand. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

My family thinks I am crazy, but they understand that Disney is my favorite place so they let me go on and on about it and they just listen and pretend to be interested! We have a few in the family that will even go with us on occasion and lots of friends just like me that are NUTS about it...okay...not as nuts as me...but hey....not many are! I think we DISers are definitely our own little minority!

I too have had to put up with the questions about "why are you going to Disney again?" DW and I went for our honeymoon in 2001 and have been every year and twice one year. It seems like every year we say "we don't really have the money to go again this year, we'll wait until next year." Well, guess what.....that has yet to happen. We said that again this year and thats what everyone believed until a couple of weeks ago we decided to go at the end of November. When I told my family my mom just said "I thought ya'll weren't going this year" to which I replied "you actually believed that?" Anyway, I have been picked on plenty for my Disney obsession. I just recently started a new job, much closer to home which allowed me to stop commuting and a guy I had worked with emailed me and asked what I was doing with the money I was saving on gas and if it was going to Disney then nevermind. This is the same guy who when I was talking to a fellow co worker about his honeymoon and asked where he was going and he said Disney....he replied with "I hate ya'll who don't go anywhere other than Disney." My deal is I just don't see why people care where we go....why do they seem to get so angry about it? I just don't get it. Now DW's family...they do get it. She had been with them many times before we were married and although they aren't quite as obsessed as us....they love Disney. For example....they went with us last year and had a GREAT time but, they said "we can't afford to go every year....we still like to go other places....we'll plan on going in 2006." Like I said before we weren't planning on going this year either....well, when we decided to go guess what...all of them said...."We want to go!!!!" So, now everyone is going to Disney and Yes, we are all still planning on the 2006 trip as well......At least some people get it. :wave2:

I'm pretty lucky, too. I rarely hear that!! Most of my immediate and extended family have the DisneyDisease. My Fiance is now a convert - HE was the one who suggested we go to Disney for our honeymoon!! :D I knew there was a reason I wanted to marry him. ;)

I can relate. My DH thouroughly enjoys Disney when we are there, but could care less about it when we arent. I obsess and plan for at least a year before our actual vacation! My parents have a time share there, but they never venture into the parks. Next year we are taking our daughter for her 4th birthday and they are being forced into the parks then. Hopefully they will come to fully understand the joy I have for the world. Right now, they just rolls their eyes and tell me how I need to venture out of the world and into the universe! Oh well, I can come here and relive my joy with you all!

Only 533 days until we head to Pop Century for Athena's long birthday celebration! 11 whole days!!!!

Both DH and I are obsessed! We love, love, LOVE WDW and can't imagine NOT going. This year, we're going 3 times -love those AP's!

My parents love it and have gone with us on the past 2 trips. Now my dad doesn't want to miss a trip! He loves watching his DGS explore the parks with wonder. This summer's trip is going to be me, DH, DS, DD, my grandmother and aunt and  my inlaws. Wish me luck with the last two!

Now my DH's brother and his wife have been to DL once and WDW 3x. My BIL loves it and would go as often as we do. My SIL, on the other hand, doesn't get the magic. She'd rather lay on a beach somewhere. BORING! Now that they have a little girl, maybe they'll reconsider and go more often.

Anyway, we love our WDW trips! I'm always planning the next one, too!

We go to WDW every year and the comments we get is "Don't you want to go somewhere else? Why WDW every year? How can you afford to go there every year?" We love WDW, our kids are 8 & 6 and they love it too. We have no interest in going anywhere else at this point. As to affording it, we save our money. We don't go out to dinner every night that most of our friends, and we don't buy a lot of "toys". None of our friends go on vacation with their kids which I think is a shame. They put all their money in their homes. Now there is nothing wrong with that, but I would rather do a little of both. As my Dh and I say all the time, to each their own.

GOING TO WDW IN 16 DAYS AND CAN'T WAIT  :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Well I dont know if you remember, but we were the ones who won the George Lopez contest last year. We won the VIP trip to DL, and 10K cash... what do you think we did with the cash? We put half into savings and the rest for 2 more DW trips of course.

This REALLY sent my family over the edge. lol I think that experience is what sealed my love of Disney in.

Let me first say that I don't go to Disney every year. We are going in September though. We were last there when my DD was 5 in 2001. We had a wonderful time!! Now I have a 2 year old DS and we are going back. I don't think anyone is weird if they want to go every year. If Disney is what you enjoy...I say go for it!!! But for us, we do like to see other things besides Disney. Last year we went to San Fran for a week. Now some people might say that was boring, but until you've been there, you have no idea how great it is!!! We rode cable cars, and visited Alcatraz and saw Chinatown, went to Carmel, and took the kids to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which by the way was just voted in the top 10 for family places to visit. My daughter has seen 7 of the top 10 historical monuments in this country. From the grand canyon to the Washington Monument. We spent 10days in South Dakota in a cabin in Custer Park to see Mount Rushmore, and there's nothing like buffalo walking right up to your car!!!!! We love Disney too......but we also like to see other things. But to each his own!! Everyone enjoy your Disney magic......we will in September.

I'm right there with ya! I've been a self-professed Disney fan since my first trip in 1978. We went nearly every year for about 15 years and then I was old enough to go on my own with college buddies, and then I did the CP and that sealed the deal! Now that I am a "grown-up", I have to go at least once a year. When I met my husband, he had never been to any Disney park. Three weeks after our wedding, we went to DLR, and he liked it okay (he loves DCA), but the next month when we went to WDW, he fell hook, line, and sinker for the magic! We only stayed for 4 days, and when we returned home, I asked if he understood why I felt like I needed to go at least once a year...and he said yes! We went back last year (he loves the F&W festival), and I was actually willing to do a very short weekend this year so we could afford that trip to London, but he is the one that had rather do a full week at the Yacht or Beach Club, and he wants to take his parents (they have never been either!).

I do feel like I have to hide my vacation plans sometimes. Especially my family other than my mom. I get the "are you going to Disney AGAIN this year?" and "let me guess" questions a lot.

But now and then I'll stumble across a true Disney lover and we'll get to talking and before I know it an hour has passed! At my baby brother's graduation party (from HS, so I know he isn't a baby, but he is a baby to me!) last month, I ran into my mom's friend who went with us on several occasions when I was a kid...she is taking her family this summer and we had so much fun talking about past trips, discussing theme park strategies (lots and lots of strange looks at that part!), and dining recommendations.

You're preaching to the choir here!

or in some cases are "waiting" for their youngest to be "old enough" (no amount of explaining that there is plenty for a 4+ yr old child to do there- it's not like Six Flags!!!!) yet keep having more babies- so I don't count on them ever going. LOL
----------------------------
You must know my sister-in-law.. Her DD is twenty-something and getting married in October.. Her youngest is 18 and just purchased a motorcycle..
Do you think they're "old enough" now??? :rotfl:

I'm tired of this too... People here we are going to WDW for our honeymoon and they are like 'OMG, that's for kids..' I always have to explain that there are plenty of things for adults (w/o kids) to do there, and that we will have SO much fun!

Also, my grandpa always says 'Aren't you tired of seeing that place yet? It can't change that much from the year before.' I'm like yes it does, trust me... I've gotten to the point now, where I just blow it off.

I travel for a living, spend up to 170nights in hotels all over North America. I get to see the mountains, monuments, nature in all its glory, wild animals galore. But when I vacation I want Disney.
My friends and co-workers have no idea about the excitement that abounds at a Disney park.
I am at the point when discussing a trip that I tell friends that I am going to see other friends on theEast Coast. I do not attempt to talk Disney with them any longer, I just go and enjoy myself.
It is the same when I go to Disneyland: in fact I have family in southern California. When I tell them that I am either coming for a visit, I usually say that I will be at there house on a certain day, making sure that I have at least three days at Disneyland before getting to my family's place. When I go home, I say that I have an appointment to make and then head back to Disneyland for another day or two.
It is rough having this Disney addiction, having to sneak around.
Just think how long the lines would be if everyone enjoyed the Disney Parks.

:wizard:

just 34 mores days until next WDW trip
:cool1:

Yep, my mom tells me "You've been there all ready, why bother going again? Now I don't even discuss it with her, I just give her our flight numbers and times and where we can be reached if there is an emergency. I don't even know if I'll bring her something back this year.

What is it w/ parents? I am a 27 yo mother of one beautiful 4yy Disney Princess. I am fortunate enough to be able to be a stay-at-home mom, I own my own house 3 cars, and my bills are always paid so why is it my mother still think she can tell me I can't go to WDW again because I need to think about the money I'll "WASTE" to me it's not wasting it. I love disney why can't people understand that we love it. And why can't my mother realize I've been married for 7 1/2 years now and I can do w/ my money what I want and if I want to "waste" my money on a trip to WDW then I can RIGHT!!!!!

Things that I had to heard:

Are you going to Disneyworld AGAIN???
There are OTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD, do you know that??

DH works a lot. It has been 4 years since his last time off work. When I asked where he wanted to go this year (with my fingers crossed), he said: Disney. (heeee) Why? Our last trip there was wonderful, magical, perfect AND the good memories last all this years. Now, it´s time for our fix, again!

Anyone who have a opinion against it, must pay for my credit card bill first!! hohohoho :cool1:

...when people say "isn't that for kids?" is:

"Did you know that Walt Disney World encompasses an area TWICE the size of Manhattan? That it includes four theme parks and two water parks, plus a dozen resorts, world class golf courses, a downtown shopping district and an entire island of nightclubs? That it has a specially built theater for Cirque de Soleil? That it hosts some of the most acclaimed restaurants, luxury hotels and spas in the country? Did you know that it is the number one honeymoon destination in America?"

Their jaws drops. Most of them had no idea. :cool1:

I grew up going to Disneyland probably once every year or two. When I was probably 5 years old, I told my grandma that "Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth". So yeah, I've always had a love of Disney.
Now I have a wife and 4 kids, and I still love Disney just as much as I did as a kid. We've taken the kids to DL 4 times and had a great time each time.

I had always wanted to go to WDW but being on the other side of the country, it was something we could never afford. So I was so excited to finally get to go this year, but a little worried that it wouldn't meet my expectations. It was by far the best vacation we've ever been on. We all had such a great time that we never wanted to come home. I'm definitely hooked and I'd love to go every year if possible. I'm tentatively planning a trip back in January. I'd go sooner but don't have enough money or vacation time, so it will have to wait until then.

Here's the conversation I had with a co-worker.
Me: I'm trying to plan another trip in January.
Him: Really? You're kids liked it that much?
Me: Kids? No, I loved it that much.

People just don't seem to understand that the magic isn't just for kids. Or maybe all us disney nuts are just kids at heart.
