I am sooo mad, I recieved a message from Air Tran (who we are flying with). I wanted DIRECT flights, down and back. I purchased DIRECT flights down and back. We recieve a call our flight back has been changed! We were supposed to leave like 4:45 and get back to Phily like 7:30 something, WE NOW have to leave 3:45, stop in Atlantic SWITCH PLANS (we have 30 minutes) and then go to Philly!, we'll still be arriving the same time. Now I am flying with 2 kids who never flew before and I'm thinking, if they don't like flying, how are we supposed to come down and get on another plane. Air Tran said they had to do that because of some stupid reason, I don't remember now, BUT they moved us to Business Class. I don't care if I'd be sitting in the **** pit with the captin, I didn't want to have to stop anywhere!!!

Sorry had to vent. I'm just going to try not to think of the plane ride home except on the way maybe to the airport when our trip is over.

I just hope nothing else changes till we leave! (Atleast they are not changing our flight down, we arrive at 9:30!!! (in the morning!))

I dont blame you, there are few direct flights now from Indy to Orlando. We will be driving when we go in october, but for our dec trip 2007 we plan on flying. I would rather not have to have a layover its a pain with just yourself let alone kids..

I feel for ya.....I live in WV, and there are NO direct flights from here....we actually fly to Pittsburg and then to Orlando....figure that one out....I HATE to fly, so DH and I drive down.....12 hours! Luckily, my mother lives in NC, so we usually leave WV after work and stay at mom's...then go onto FL....that way it's only an 8 hour drive at one time!

Yeah.. I live in WV too. I have the option of driving down to Charleston (which is close to where the previous poster lives) where there are a few more options for airlines, or flying out of my town- Parkersburg, where only USAir is.. It's frustrating because I don't really like US Air and they only have connections in Pittsburgh.

Well a Direct flight can stop somewhere. In airline terminology "direct flights" can make a stop, you just wouldn't change planes. Are you sure that's not what you had originally since you said the times didn't change? If you want a flight without any stops at all, you'd have to ask for a "nonstop flight".

Go to Airtran.com and check the flights for that day. If they just changed you from the flight and not changed times of the original time of the flight itself, then you can ask to be put back on since your tickets originally say that. If they've changed the flight completely, then you might be able to argue a first/business class upgrade due to your situation or ask to be put on an earlier flight if it conflicts with plans....it just depends.

This happened with our flight to CA last Oct. on American Airlines. We were booked to a later flight without being notified and it only gave us a 18 minute time between connecting flights. I told the customer service rep that there was an earlier flight listed on the website, she checked, asked if we wanted to be put on that one instead, we said yes, she rebooked us, apologized, and we were happy. They did it free of charge because they were the one's responsible for the move/change. It doesn't hurt to check or ask!

Yikes! This sorta scares me because I just booked with AirTran out of Philly. I hope this is not a common practice. That totally sucks! Big hugs!
