We just had to take Bailey to the vets as she has eaten some wild mushrooms from our garden and they have made her shiver, vomit and salivating...

They are going to keep her in over night and make her vomit until her stomach is empty and possibly do blood tests to see if it has poisioned her liver & kidneys.

I'm so upset.

Claire, i am so sorry.I really hope Bailey is well+pulls thru this.Was you able to take a specimen of the mushroom with you to the vets?.These mushrooms that grow in our gardens can be poisionous to both animals and adults.Did you find out pretty quick once she had eaten them?.
I wish you all the best with Bailey,you know you can pm me .

Oh no I hope that everything work out ok for Bailey, it's so easy for somthing like that to happen though, I remember my MIL having a fit once b/c there were lilies in the house and they are poisonous to cats too.

Also daffodils,i don't have either of them in the house anymore,a long while ago unbeknown to me Sam ate daffodils,after about 2 days of him not eating and vomiting,i took him to the vets,they said i was lucky as another 24hrs and he would'nt have made it.


If you noticed it in plenty of time Claire,i am sure Bailey will be fine.x.

I didn't know daffodils were poisonous to cats my babies eat a lot of grass by my daffs. I know lillies are we had to dig ours up when we had our 2 cats when they came to inspect our house they told us.

We did take some of the mushrooms to the vets but she said that they didn't need them as they don't have details on what types are bad etc.

I am not sure when she actually ate them but she was fine all morning. Both dogs were out in the garden for a while but Stamford came in and had a sleep on his bed then about 10 mins later Bailey came in and laid on their blanket (next to me on the sofa) I stroked her and noticed all her chest and front legs were wet, so I got her off of the sofa and she was dribbling...like a slow running tap but it was constant and she started to shiver so I yelled for DH he was upstairs and when he came into the room she was sick all over the carpet and I could see about 15+ mushrooms. DH got straight on the phone to the vet and he said there was a slot in 30 mins. So from me noticing something was wrong to her being seen by the vet it was about 40 mins, hopefully this will mean that they weren't in her system too long as the vet was concerned as she is still very young so she would not be able to fight it off aswell as an older dog.

I will update when I hear whats happening but I don't think it will be until the morning....unless something goes really wrong! I hope they call me as early as possible as DH has got a hospital appointment tomorrow morning to check how his knuckle is healing....hopefully that will be ok too.

That seems a good time frame.Most animals when they eat something bad,it does'nt stay down long,and at least she vomited up by the sounds of it,hopefully the majority of them.I believe there's 3 different types of wild mushrooms that grow on the garden-although i don't know if one is worse than the other.We have wild mushroom in our garden and as soon as we see it,we pull them up,especially as little Emily loves mushrooms,and we would be worried sick if she ate one.
No news is good news,as much as you are probably wanting the vet to ring you to let you know how Bailey is,they will only ring you if there is a problem.So not hearing anything yet,says to me that Bailey is ok.


You will be suprised at what flowers+shrubs are dangerous to cats+dogs,mistletoe,foxglove,daffodils,tiger lillies,bay laurel(bayleafs),jasmine,azaela,rhododendron bushes,there are more.x.

The vet just called to give an update....talk about heart in my mouth when I saw the number on caller id!

Anyway she said that they made her sick and she bought up loads more mushrooms but has since had some water and kept it down, she seems a bit better but they are still going to keep her in to watch her.

Hopefully my little Bailey-bell will be able to come home in the morning, her big brother keeps looking for her.
