"I'm so stuffed I think I need to roll around on the ground for awhile" A Jan 2016 Dining Report

Hi Everyone!! My name is Jessica and I'm brand new to the world of writing trip and dining reports so please bear with me! I have been reading (stalking) many trip and dining reports over the past year but thought I would finally write my own...So here we go!

As I mentioned before my name is Jessica and my husband and I went on on an adults only trip last week. We LOVE Disney World and take our kids at least once a year so this was an extra special trip since we were able to spend some time without the kids. It's a whole different experience!

More to come soon! First stop: EPCOT for a quick lunch and snack!
really enjoying your updates

enjoying the reviews so far - the Norwegian Cheesecake is my favourite at Kringla Og but I do like the schoolbread. We had an awful meal in 2014 at Raglan Road which is downright irritating because the reviews are always amazing. Looking forward to the rest :goodvibes:

Monday January 18-DINNER

We took full advantage of being within a quick 5 minute walk to Epcot's World Showcase and had dinner this night at Via Napoli. We have been here a few times in past trips and we all LOVE the pizza here. I can't even really describe it but it's just really really good. We arrived right on time for our ADR (can I just say how much I love the location of the Epcot resorts??!) We were seated within 10 mins or so and had a great table next to the windows looking out of the front of the restaurant. DH and I already knew that we wanted pizza again so we went with the old standby-pepperoni. We ordered a large (serves 2-3 -31.00) and we ate it all except one small piece! It was so good but some parts of the crust were black which we've never had before. They also brought out some bread and oil before the pizza arrived which I forgot to take a pic of but it was good and we devoured it. My ONLY complaint about this place is that the tables are SO small and the pizza pans are huge and it really leaves hardly any room for glasses or plates :confused3 This was by far the value meal of the week at just under 50.00 with tip. We will definitely return to Via Napoli in the future!

I’m loving your reviews so far! I don’t eat seafood either so my options are often limited depending on where we go. But so far I think we are a lot alike because all of your dishes look good! Now I’m craving some school bread…

I always crave school bread :rotfl:

Loving your reviews! Also your tee shirt. Where did you get it? We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last year and loved it. Also ate at Columbia Harbor House.

I got my shirt on Etsy :thumbsup2

Sorry you had a bad meal there. If you end up giving it another chance hope it works out better for you!

Monday January 18-Late Night Snack

After our awesome dinner at Via Napoli we went off property to the Premium Outlets because I needed to buy some sneakers! I'm from CT and thought that bringing 500 pairs of flip flops would be just FINNNEEEE because it would be at least 60 degrees during our trip. Nope. I was COLD. So after all our shopping we came back to the Beach Club and I finally stopped by
BEACHES AND CREAM!! I'm not too picky when it comes to ice cream but I already knew what I wanted-The Milky Way sundae (Three Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Caramel, and Whipped Cream topped with Dark and White Chocolate Shavings and a Cherry-also has half a milky way stuck on top). I LOVE LOVE LOVE Milky Ways. That candy bar has my heart and I would eat them all the live long day if it were socially acceptable and I had an unlimited budget for new pants. DH and I shared (because it makes me feel less guilty about pigging out LOL). We both loved it and I'm sure you will too party:

OMG that looks good, both the pizza and the ice cream. Can't wait to try Via Napoli for the first time in November! I also noticed your Fitbit. Did you get a lot of steps in?

Yes, we did!!! I bought the Fitbit especially for this trip so I could track our miles. We walked 53 miles!!! Makes eating all that food not seem so bad!

HI! Enjoying your review this far. :). I love Via Napoli. There is just something about that pizza. Maybe it's the brick oven. Trying beaches and cream on our April trip!

Both of those look great! I just got the No Way Jose recently - and only ate about half of it, but it was SO GOOD! Now I'm tempted by the milky way one too :P We're staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club again in May...might have to make it over there for some ice cream :)

I love the looks of that pizza...you made me hungry

It tasted even better than it looked!

I don't know if it's true (I'm guessing not) but I had heard that they use a special water from Italy for the dough. But whatever they put it in it's delicious!

Everything looks delicious!!
It was!

The No Way Jose will make an appearance in this report soon :rotfl:

The water is rumored to be from Pennsylvania as it tastes like the water from Italy. Not sure if it is true, but the pizza is yummy!

Tuesday January 19-Breakfast

We had an early breakfast ADR at KONA CAFE. We have been here many times for breakfast and usually we both get the Tonga Toast but after reading many dining reports we thought we would try something new.

The meal started off kind of strange because our waiter was not friendly at all. He was to the point and very short. I don't think that he was trying to be rude but it just seemed to be his personality. After awhile DH and I got a kick out of it because we had no clue how this guy ended up with a job as a waiter. He was like this to all his tables so it wasn't just us lol. Anyway-on to the food!! I ordered the Big Kahuna (French Toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple Sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, Eggs, Home-fried Potatoes, Ham, Bacon, and Sausage 12.99) I don't eat eggs so I had them put them on a separate plate for DH. To be honest, I was not a fan of this at all. it's not that the food was bad per say, but it didn't taste fresh. It wasn't even that warm. The ham was the worst, it was so dry. The french toast was also kind of cold and very dry tasting even with butter and syrup. DH had The Samoan (Poached Eggs with Hollandaise served over Smoked Pulled Pork Hash 10.99). He was really excited to try this because I had been telling him about the positive reviews I've been reading about this dish. He said it was just ok but there wasn't much pulled pork on it.

We were both pretty disappointed in this meal and we probably won't come back for awhile. Another thing that really irked me about this meal was not getting prompt refills on my diet coke (soda! with breakfast? I know, I know...)
This is one of my biggest pet peeves because I NEED to have something to drink while I'm eating.

But no fear! Our lunch totally made up for our lackluster breakfast! Stay tuned!

So sorry you weren't a big fan of Kona! I really liked the food (I had the macadamia pineapple pancakes) but I agree, our service was SO SLOW. Seems to be a recurring theme of others here on the boards as well. And I agree, I hate waiting for a refill during meals, and we definitely did as well. :)

I am a diet soda drinker with breakfast also and have recieved a few strange looks when I ask for soda instead of coffee or tea.

Tuesday January 19-Lunch

After our Kona Cafe breakfast we headed over to Animal Kingdom. I have been wanting to eat at
Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes for a few years now but never got the chance because we usually pack sandwiches for lunch when we come with the kids and only do 1 day at AK per trip. I really liked eating at Yaki and Yeti a few years ago so I was excited to try lunch at the quick service location. We were still a little stuffed from our large breakfast earlier so we decided to split the
Pork Egg Roll (3.29) and the Chicken Fried rice (3.99). At less than 8.00 for lunch for the both of us it was a bargain! It was SO SO GOOD! I wished that we had gotten the side of 2 egg rolls but my DH is a nice guy and let me have more than half of the one we shared so I can't complain :) The egg roll was crunchy and very tasty but the rice was the star of the show. It was flavored so well and they give a huge portion for the price. This was by far the best quick service I have had at any of the parks!
