I'm running the WDW Marathon Jan 2012! Who is with me??

I will be there, I'm going Goofy, I am going to probably walk most of the half and run most of the full. I'm hoping the code works for goofy too since in the email it said the marathon, but maybe they meant registering for one of the three races.

they should definitely give a discount to people doing the goofy!!!

dan i saw your costume over on the princess thread. i wonder what you'll wear for the marathon?!

I'm not dressing up for the marathon weekend in Jan, sorry, most I'll do is something goofy related, I may decide and think about doing the half dressed as goofy, but the full is going to be running gear. But if I do princess again, it's Alice or Cinderella.

It said the code works for the marathon and goofy at the bottom of the email.

ooo i vote for alice! there weren't many alices at the princess. there was a girl dressed as the mad hatter and it was fabulous!

hey i read your race report just now on your blog! loved it! can't wait to follow you along as you train for the goofy!

i haven't run in almost a week now. bad. i'm finally feeling better though but of course the rain came down in buckets and many of the streets are flooded. darn. i hope to get out tomorrow morning for an easy jog to get back into the groove. i really want to capitalize on all the running i did this winter!

db-just get back out there! It will come back. My tendonitis in my lower legs flared up pretty bad after the WDW Half, and I took about 3 weeks off. But now I'm back out there and feeling better than ever! Hopefully I'll do 7 today if my running route isn't under water (we had some flooding in low lying places in Baltimore yesterday). I've got a 5k on Sunday that I'm pretty excited about too!

i got out and did a slow 4 miler today. it was SO windy down by the water that i was barely going forward yet i was practically sprinting!

good luck on your 5k tomorrow! i'm going to try to run tomorrow morning because the rest of the day will be filled with festivities! our neighborhood's st. patrick's day parade is tomorrow. drinking, eating, etc etc. going to do my best to take it easy though. hubby's going out of town tomorrow afternoon for the week so i definitely can't get my load on ;)

The princess was my first half marathon. I am strongly considering the marathon, and as long as I'm doing it, I might as well walk a half the day before. So, call me GOOFY! I felt great after the princess, and went right into EPCOT for a ride on test track (and back to the hotel for a shower:laughing:). I felt great the next day (except when my hamstrings tightened up after the plane ride).

I actually booked a Treehouse villa before I even ran the princess in anticipation. I'm thinking I may also do the Wine & Dine this year, then the Disneyland half next year for the Coast-to-Coast.

I really need to lose 20 pounds before I start my marathon training plan. This will be my motivation.

With all that said, I have only run 4 miles since the princess. I got a 2-mile run in the Thursday after, but I was coming down with a cold. I got another 2-miler in yesterday, but started coughing and had to stop. We are taking a family trip to Disney World next week, and my running gear is packed.

i'm signing up for the full right now! i just played with the different offers to see which was cheaper. the discount given for the princess runners was a little cheaper than the disney visa cardholders discount.

it's official! i'm in!

FREAKING OUT!!! BUT SO EXCITED!!! can't wait to train with you guys!!

I'm in!!!! The internet at school came up in just the nick of time for me!!

FULL MARATHON HERE I COME!!!!!! :cool1: :scared1: :cool1: :scared1:

After a lot of thought...I think I'm going Goofy in January! Can't wait. But I won't be signing up for a couple of weeks. I'm getting ready to go on a big trip, so it's in next month's budget.

Nancy!! We are so in!! OK...I haven't signed up yet, in case the servers were clogged up like they get for triathlon signup. But I will be any day now. My running buddy should be coming, too.
You know, you could do the mini-Goofy and do the 5K and marathon...hint hint...taste the koolaid...it's divine! :rotfl:
We will definitely meet at Epcot afterwards. It's tradition! In 2010, I was just going to get my margarita AS I finished the race (so many people at the back have done so in warmer years--I imagine you do have to finish your drink before you leave the park), but it was so cold, and the cantina was being refurbed.

Training...about a 6 month program should do it...just maintain your run fitness until time to start it...but prob don't need to do huge long runs between now and then...even 6-8 miles will help you maintain until you build up again (deferring to Charles). I would bet you can run around 5-5:10, also per Charles...I've heard a good rule of thumb is double your half marathon time, plus add 1/2 hour. But I might be confusing that with a triathlon thing.

Tracey! Glad you will do the full! You'll be great.

can't wait to virtually train with you betsy! we'll definitely have fun afterward! the post-princess race fun was great! after the princess i showered and changed into my "i did it!" shirt before heading to epcot. i might do that again. hubby and the kiddo will be along with me so we'll make DH buy us our drinks!!

it's been a struggle getting out for runs these last 2-3 weeks. can't seem to get anyone to watch the kiddo. but soon enough i'll be able to run with him in the jogger so that will be nice.

trying to wrap my head around the idea of running for 5.5 hours.

In for the full.

nice! amy we should try to meet up sometime for a run! we are so close after all!

Nancy, definitely. We will see you at the Bronx 5k next month for sure, and I know some of my summer long runs will take me up to your neighborhood.

ugh major bummer about the bx zoo 5k. my friend joe is getting married that weekend in DC so i can't go. boo. i wanted to get out of the wedding but it's one of those have-to-go situations.

there are some really nice runs at pelham bay park that i do. we could always run and you can come hang at the beach club with us after! :)

Can I join in? I'm in for the half. By January, it will be my 4th half in 15 months with my first one being this past October.
