I'm on a boat! Disney Dream TR 0ct 20-23 (last update pg 7 12/1)

Down the slide

Once you get to the shark tank the slide stops and you are pushed through as others come down the slide and move the water. Very cool, but creepy

The sharks looked bigger in person.


We went down again all together. Dh and Caitlin went on more time while I took a break. Once Dh came back he left Caitlin with me and went on the slide in the middle. He said it was horrible. You go down so quick that you can’t see anything. He said he ended up at the bottom pool so quickly he thought he was drowning for a second.

I was starting to get hungry but DH wanted to go on one more slide. It took awhile to find our way to the one he wanted to go on.

I don’t have any pictures of the slides but it was in this building. You go up a belt to ride it. At the end of the slide you are dump in the lazy river. We got dumped right by the lockers so I wanted to get out. DH and Caitlin wanted to go again.

DH does not always believe me when I mention Caitlins attitude when with me. Lets all take a look shall we?

While Dh and Caitlin rode again, I collected our lunch vouchers from the locker and waited paitently. I returned to the area just in time to see them passing by again. Did I mention I get crabby when I am hungry? After what seemed like forever they came around again. Dh wanted to go on some slide again so he would go again while Caitlin got lunch. After he left I realized that the food place next to us wasn’t included in the food voucher. There are about 6 places on the voucher that is included with the Disney excursion. I didn’t want to walk to another without DH b/c I wasn’t sure I would make it back in time to meet him. We settled on a bag of chips to tide us over until he returned.

We located the closest food place we could and headed that way. We all got burgers and fries. The fries were okay but I thought the burger was gross. DH and Caitlin ate theirs though. Maybe it was just cold and there was tomato and lettuce that I had DH pick off(ew)but I couldn’t eat it. The drink station was also covered with bees. They had all soda options except some type of punch. I got Caitlin the punch since she doesn’t drink soda. She took one sip and spit it out.

I spotted bar nearby and headed over while they finished their lunch. I grabbed Caitlin a bottled water and grabbed myself a much deserved mudslide.

Yum.


After our lunch it was time to hit the beach.

The beach was pretty empty when we arrived. There was a large group doing some type of activity towards the end of the beach but only about 3 people on the chairs when we arrived.

Dh went first

The water looked cold but it turned out to be very warm. It was fantastic.
Caitlin slowly made her way.

While they played, I relaxed on a lounge chair with my mudslide. It was almost perfect, well except the whole no sun part.

It looks like there is a lot of seagrass or whatever it was but it was just that one small part of the beach.

Dh is waving me in, telling me I had to get in the water.

I headed in the water and it was great. Nice and warm. It was right about now people started to join in and a few more families joined the beach.

The waves were pretty big and brought me back in a few times.

Time to head in.

Atlantis looks nice, but again, everything sounds so confusing to me! You must have done a lot of research to figure everything out!

The water looks so nice, see why I'm not going on a cruise til I can wear a bathing suit without a tee shirt over it in public? Someday!

We definitely couldn't have handled those slides with all those stairs...the reason we don't do the waterparks anymore, but they sure look like fun.

I love your report so far. I burst out laughing at this picture of Caitlin and that face when her daddy's not looking. Sounds like you may have a little Diva on your hands. I have 3 daughters and a 3yr old granddaughter living with me so I know exactly how you feel. Can't wait to hear more about your trip.

The burger was gross. I probably would have suffered and eaten it if I had to, but I knew we were heading back the ship soon and I could have some decent food. No reason to waste tummy space on cold burgers.

Yep, she saves the attitude just for me. Apparently everything that is wrong in her life is my fault.

I just spent my time on the cruise boards for a couple months and learned everything I needed to know. It is all much easier than it sounds.

I thought I wouldn't have these issue with Caitlin until she was older either. I guess I am just lucky. We have been cracking down when she acts up since we have been home and she has been doing better. I don't know what her problem was, it seemed like she thought the whole trip was about her and if we weren't doing what she wanted she would not be happy and try to ruin it for everyone else.

The waterpark was huge. I guess it has to be since people go to Altantis for days at a time and never leave the resort, but it was much more than I expected. DH had hurt his knee a few weeks before we left and was not happy climbing the stairs.

Thanks. I am glad I am not the only one that has girls who aren't as sweet as they look. DH never gets an attitude b/c he is pretty strick. He finally saw what I deal with all the time with her and he was exhausted. She finally stopped somewhere along the middle of the last day when she saw that she would have more fun if she listened and that we would eventually do the things she wanted too.

After we said goodbye to the beach DH and Caitlin wanted to go on two more slides. They went down the shark slide one more time and also went on the first slide we had tried but been turned away.

While they were doing that, I collected our stuff from the lockers and got dressed. I grabbed a chair by the last slide they were going to ride which was close to the water park exit. It took them awhile but I enjoyed my alone time and got to read a bit of the book I had brought.


Once everyone was done with the slides and dressed we made our way through the maze.

We had one more important stop to make. The casino.
DH and I decided to take turns for 20 minutes while the other stayed with Caitlin. I went first and hit the slots. I gave myself $50 to play and had it up to about $125. About 5 minutes later I was down to $.44. Darn those max bet buttons! I printed out my voucher and found DH. He didn’t have any of his $40 left after the goggles so I gave him $20 to play. He returned about 10-15 minutes later and handed me $60. I forget what he played but he got my losses down to $10.


We found the spot for the Disney shuttle and a driver quickly showed up. The driver was very talkative and pointed out the hospital that Anna Nicole Smith had her daughter and told us all about her death and the drama around the death of John Travolta’s son. Not sure who wanted to know about this but he just kept talking and talking the whole ride.

Finally we were almost back on our ship. The carnival sensation had caught up to us.

A man who was heading towards the Carnival walked up to us and asked if we were on the Dream and how much did it cost? I didn’t really want to tell some man the ridiculous amount of $ we spent and hesitated. Soon his wife and daughter (I assume) came over and he told us how they were on the Sensation and they had paid about $300 per person.

We made our way through security and headed back to the room. Our pirate night stuff was waiting for us as well as some FE gifts.

Everyone took turns taking showers. While DD showered I headed up to the pool deck to grab some pizza since I hadn’t had lunch.


I put the balcony to good use and snapped some pictures before we left.

The Carnival Destiny had left at some point so I snapped some pictures of what she had been blocking.

We had a little time before dinner so we watched Hercules on TV. I haven’t seen it for years and I don’t think Caitlin has ever seen it. She has seen Meg on one of the princess sing along and I thought she might enjoy it. Wrong, she did not want to watch it. DH and I both did so we chilled out and watched it. Caitlin had another tantrum that involved me sitting in the wrong spot. I believe this is where she threw herself on the bed and cried “This is not where dreams come true. They’re liars!”


After a few time outs and melt downs it was time for dinner. We had dinner that night at Enchanted Garden.

The night before had been DH’s first glass of wine. When our server asked him if he liked it, DH said not really and explained that he has never really had wine. Our server asked him what he was looking for and he would give him samples the next night so that he didn’t have to pay for the glass if he didn’t like it. When we arrived at our table the wine was waiting for him. He didn’t love it. Both the server and assistant server were determined to find him something he liked so they each picked one for him. He ended up liking the one that the assistant server recommended and ordered a glass of that.

I didn’t really like any of the drink options so I just ordered a ginger ale. Later I saw a red drink that looked pretty in the souvenir pirate cup and asked what it was. I believe it was

• Winter Leafs Rum, Pomegranate, Peach Schnapps, Cranberry Juice, Soda Water

It was delicious and I love my light up cup. I meant to buy another that night but never got around to it.

I ordered the North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli With Roasted Garlic and Sweet Basil in a lightTomato Broth

It was alright. Nothing special. It seemed to lack something to me.

• DH had Romaine Wedge Fresh Crisp Romaine topped with a Creamy Romano Dressing and Homemade Spiced Croutons

He ate it all so I guess it was good. I didn’t order a salad or soup and DH didn’t order any appetizer.


We both ordered the same entrée which I don’t see listed on the menu.

I also wanted to try the scallops but just asked for the scallops on the side instead of a whole other entrée. I knew I wouldn’t like the pasta that came with it.

Love everything about this meal- the beef, potatoes and scallops were very good.

Caitlin had chicken fingers, but they didn’t give her fries. They brought her a whole plate of fries when we asked.


• For dessert DH and I both had Banana Foster Sundae Rum-glazed Bananas, Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and Caramel Sauce (DH had it with no bananas)

It was good for just being vanilla ice cream. The whole bottom of the cup was filled with banana though so there wasn’t much room for ice cream.

I forget what they were. The orange one was passion fruit? Something else flavored. DH tried the chocolate and said it was gross. I made the mistake of eating the whole chocolate at once and it tasted like I put a whole spoonful of unsweeted cocoa powder in my mouth. It was awful but there was nowhere to spit it out so I just kept chewing. It did get good later. I did have another 2, but this time I cut them in half. I tried one of the orange ones but didn’t love it.


Overall I really liked Enchanted Garden. I wished I had ordered another dessert when I realized the whole thing was banana on the bottom, but I knew I would be ordering room service that night so I didn't want to have too much at dinner.

Thank goodness I am not alone. It might have been good in a way though b/c now I won't feel bad about leaving her at grandmas next time.

I have an old Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt I wear whenever I don't feel well. Whenever DH sees it he asks me if I am sick. I don't do it on purpose, it is just so comfy.

After dinner we headed back to the room for a bit of downtime. We watched the rest of Hercules, which Caitlin ended up loving. We watched it one more time the next day and her new favorite Villain is Hades. We also found a stuffed Pegasus that she bought at Pop.


I headed down to guest services to add my gift cards from Sunshine Rewards and the Disney Rewards dollars I had. I called DH and we agreed to meet up by the pool deck to watch the Pirate Celebration.


Once we got there we ended up going up on more deck since there was almost no one up there yet.

The show was cute. Captain Mickey and his gang teach everyone how to be a pirate. When Cpt. Hook appears and tries to take over the Dream, all the new pirates help Mickey get it back. I would probably skip it in the future, unless I had younger kids with me.


After the show Caitlin was anxious to get to the kids club so we dropped her off and agreed to pick her up in 40 minutes.


Do you know what that means? Adult time! I can’t even remember what adult time is since it has been so long.


DH and I checked out Skyline and walked through the district area but it was still too early for anything to be going on. We ended up at Bon Voyage near the atrium to have a drink.

I got a chocolate Martini and DH had a beer.

We took our time and talked about how great it would be to go on another cruise, just the two of us. No kids, no tantrums, no drama.


Soon our time was up and DH headed off to get Caitlin while I headed to the shops. I wasn’t super impressed with the DCL merchandise at the stores but really wanted something to remember the Dream by. I did end up getting a charm, tshirt and mug.


Once I returned home I noticed that the shirt has a slit in it so I called merchandise guest services and they agreed to send me a replacement. The lady was not very nice about it though. I had never even worn it or taken it out of the bag since I bought it. You can’t see the slit when you hold it up, only when you put it on. My guess it was from a box cutter or something. The shirt is on Disneystore.com and when I gave her the item number she just said “That is not our item # so I can’t help you” Hmm, I’m looking right at the shirt on the Disneystore.com page. As much as I love Disney I refuse to pay another $22 for shirt I already paid $22 for. $44 to advertise DCL on a crummy quality t-shirt. I don’t think so. She told me I needed to email or fax something that proved I was on the ship since I didn’t save the receipt. When I asked what she would like she snapped at me and replied “I just need something to prove you were on the ship!” in a very rude tone. I ended up e-mailing a copy of my room key and some other receipts I had from other purchases. Ugh.

Anyway, once I was done with my shopping I headed up to the room and we ordered some room service. These items were waiting.

I ordered cheese and crackers and Caitlin ordered French fries. It says to ask about the cake of the day and I was told it was cheesecake.

DH had decided he was going to see Reel Steel at 11:15 so he was going to skip the fireworks. According to him all fireworks are the same, if you have seen fireworks once you never need to see them again.


Caitlin and I headed through Cabanas to the pool deck.

I had brought the wrong camera and couldn’t get any good shots. The fireworks were pretty good, but the best part was Cpt Jack. Caitlin loved the show and found Cpt. Jack to be very funny.

After the show Caitlin wanted to do some shopping so we made our way to the stores. She had a hard time finding something to spend her money on and ended up with a stuffed Nala.


We made our way back to the room by 11:10. DH should have been on his way to see Reel Steel but instead he was fast asleep.

Caitlin and I watched a bit of a movie before going to bed.

Sounds like y'all were really having a good time on the Dream. I can't believe Caitlin wanted y'all to pick her up after 40 minutes in the kids club. Reid would've stayed in there all day & night if I had let him! But, at least y'all got some adult-only time. And that martini looks delicious! I wish we had made it to the fireworks. But, I knew Reid wouldn't care for them since he doesn't like the loud noise. Can't wait to hear what y'all thought of Castaway Cay!

Girls and the attitude...it occurs at all ages. Wait til she is 17!! I dont have a daughter of my own...I have a goddaughter that calls be bymy name but when she introduces me I am her mom or God Mom. I have never tolerated the attitude. She knows get over it fast...traveling with me is a priveledge not a right!! Even at 17 if she gets "the look" she apoligizes or asks what she did to get "the look". She recently got the attitude with me over taking her boyfriend home, got over it quickly. Now car keys leave and grounding means something different when her friends cant come over or she cant go out.

What is the temperature of the water at Atlantis? I read somewhere that the water is not heated and is cold. Is this true?
