I've been on the diet before but never read the book. Now that I know what I can and can't eat on Atkins I'll be starting it again tomorrow. I need to go grocery shop. I joined a gym so that is gone to help me also finally lose this weight for good. For those of you on Atkins give me some ideas what you eat for breakfast and lunch. Thanks for you help in advance.

For breakfast I usually have Blue Bunny Lite 85 yogurt. If Chelsea has to be at dance at 7 we'll go by McDonald's and get a sausage McMuffin with egg, no bun. When I first started I had bacon and cheese or hard boiled eggs.

For lunch I'll have yogurt if I didn't have that for breakfast. If I did, then I have salad with grilled chicken or make a wrap sandwich with ham or grilled chicken and a LaTortilla tortilla. Sometimes chicken salad or a hamburger patty with melted cheese. When it's cold I like to make broccoli cheese soup. I may do that today. :)

DH grills about once a week. Luckily it hasn't been too cold here yet. It works great with this way of eating. He cooks up lots pork chops, burgers and chicken and it lasts us the whole week. We just reheat as necessary. I love to slice up the grilled chicken and reheat it in a pan with some olive oil and lemon pepper seasoning. Yummy!

Good luck and we're always here to answer questions and offer support. :)

I'm sort of an expert at starting Atkins, since I have restarted so many times (four vacations last year). Plan to have lots of food around the first few days, and drink plenty of water. You won't feel so great right away, and it really does help to eat more. Keeping full will help you stay on program too, until it gets easier (it does!).

I usually have a couple of eggs and a couple of pieces of bacon, keeps me satisfied for a long time. If I'm not being really strict (ie induction), I might have them on a lo carb tortilla with some salsa and cheese, or on alternate days have some hi fiber, lo carb cereal with fruit. You'll have to visit a store with lo carb items to get these, but they are becoming more available. Lunch is usually leftover dinner from the night before, snack is a small handful of nuts or sometimes a piece of hard cheese, dinner is almost always a big salad with protein. And maybe a side of veggies. Watch the carbs in the salad dressing. Good luck! Diana

Breakfast: Atkins Advantage Bar and coffee w/cream (I've found that the other bars like Carbwise, EAS, etc. make me stall, but I'm ok with the Atkins Advantage bars)

Lunch: Big salad with lots of different veggies (lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, green peppers), topped with some kind of deli meat (turkey, roast beef) and parmesan cheese. Dressing: Ranch or Caesar

Dinner: My favorite is fajitas, rolled in La Tortilla lowcarb tortillas. I make them at least once a week. Other days I'll have a steak on the grill, or chicken breast, or a pork chop. Usually I'll steam some broccoli or green beans to go with it - topped with lots of butter, of course! :teeth:

For dessert or a snack in the evening, I'll have a Blue Bunny SF yogurt. Black Forest is my favorite flavor!

Lisa,
Can you tell me how many carbs are in the yogurt you mentioned? I can remember that it is a good yogurt for WWers too, but I have to drive too far to get it very often. My Dad is looking for a safe yogurt and has the Blue Bunny 85 readily available. Thanks!

chelsea&austinsmom, will you be starting induction again? If you need the rules for induction just send me a pm and I can email them to you.

I eat eggs and bacon usually for breakfast.

Tuna, or broiled cod and a salad for lunch

Steak, pork chops or chicken breasts for dinner with brocolli (often with cheese sauce) or cauliflower the same way.

I also love shrimp in butter for dinner. Yummy :)

Nativetxn! Thanks I have the rules you sent them to me a while back. I really gone to do this, this time. I want to lose 50 pounds by summer. Thanks everyone for your ideas.
