I have DD 15 3/4 who is very picky and eats like a bird. Would it be a terrible thing to order a kids meal for her at counter service?? would I get away with it??

I'm pretty sure Disney doesn't care if adults order things off the kids' menu. I know of many adults ordering off the kids' menu.

It's not an issue at all.

There is nothing dishonest about ordering a kids meal, they come with less food so they cost less. It would be no more dishonest than ordering a happy meal at McDonald's. I eat children's meals myself when I am not that hungry. Now if you want to try to get her into a buffet as a child- that would be another question.

That makes me feel so much better and rlovew, you put it in great perspective with the point of less food, thank you!!

I've seen adults eat em, so I don't think they'd have a problem with it.

Alternatively though, you may not have to. If she want's adult food but a small portion (the kid's meals can be pretty darned basic) many of the adult meals are portions that could easily be shared.

I see more of an issue with ordering more food than your daughter can eat. That's just wasteful. So by all means, order the kids meals. I do it often. I typically can't eat an adult meal all by myself.

i was just at the yachtsman. and my 13 yo dd, wanted the mac and cheese from the kids menu. she ordered it and the waitress did not bat an eye. if she would have asked, my dd would have said she was 13, and i would ahve paid whatever for it. she ordered it becasue that is waht she wanted to eat, not to try to get away with anything.

At CS eateries, that's rarely an issue. In such a venue, you're typically paying for the meal, whatever it is. Where it becomes an issue is when menus specifically state "Child meals for younger guests only please." It is in those cases that the restaurant is looking for folks to comply.

I sometimes order off the kid's menu, or DBF and I will sometimes share food at CS places. Sometimes theres just too much food on adult portions!

We order kids meals at CS all the time - not TS but CS, yes. It's no biggie and is usually more than enough food!

Absolutely nothing wrong with ordering a CS kids meal. I order them for myself many times. It is just like ordering a Happy Meal at McDonald's for yourself. You are getting less food, so you are paying less.

At a sit down restaurant, if my son or daughter wants something off the kids meal menu, we order it. If there is a problem then I'll deal with it as it comes up but I believe that in WDW there won't be any problem ordering off the kids menu unless it specifically states it.

CS restaurant, no problem. I am guilty myself of ordering the child's mac and cheese at the Tusker House in AK. Sometimes I'm just not that hungry and I do love the mac and cheese there.

Same with us, we found with the heat in September we were just never that hungry at lunch so sometimes we'd order kids meals. Some of them were great :) And I love the mickey shaped plates too!

We have order the kids meal for DW and I a few times at the counter service places and have had no problems with it.

This should go on the "Things I wish i knew" thread-I'm a picky Brit, so
A. The hot weather affects my appetite
B. I travel alone and sometimes want to be in-and-out fairly quickly
C. You have some weird things on your adults menu.... ;)
D. I will keep filling up on all things Mickey-shaped.

Now I know I can order kids things I'll feel a whole lot better about TS meals (Not mac and cheese though-what is that about? Yeuk :crazy2: )

I would order the kids menu. How does wdw know who is going to eat it? You order it and walk away anyway at a Cs so I would do it! (And sometimes I preferr the kids choices.)

I ordered kids meals for myself many times during our last trip for counter service lunches. I really don't think they care.

I've also ordered a kid's meal for myself at a CS on many occassions. What can i say...I'm a fool for that fake mac and cheese!

I do it all the time. I get Happy Meals at McDonalds and order off the kid menu at WDW. I did it in the Brown Derby, because I have the palate of a 10 year-old kid and the food was a wee bit frou-frou for my taste. My dining partners laughed at me, but the waiter said it happens all the time. :)
