I'm not a happy camper.. + Dutch healthcare explanation # post 52

:flower3:sending you much love and hope you get better soon. I do so enjoy hearing you on the podcasts.

Yvet,

Thanks for the explanation of the health care system. Pretty cool, and not nearly as scary as our system here.

Couple of interesting things. At our local school if a teacher or adminstrator is on family health coverage it costs the district $18,000-$23,000 annually. That includes a $200 deductible, medicine coverage, and dental (up to $1500 annual).

At our business we had a couple of our older employees ding up some big bills last year, so our insurance provider came in with an increase of 50% for our premiums. So, our workers will now have a $2500 deductible, 80/20 split (insurance covers 80% and employee covers 20%) if out of approved medical network, and no dental.

Every single year we see increases in the premiums from the insurance companies of between 10-50 percent. Every YEAR.

Several years ago my mother was forced to file bankruptcy due to medical bills.

Where is Dr. House when we need him?

:rotfl: Bill and I joke that if you went into Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital with a "small" ailment, before long you are having convulsions and someone is cutting into your brain. We love House! :thumbsup2 But, keep me away from that hospital! :rotfl:

Yvet,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such pains. I am glad you have some medication to make you comfortable until the doctor can give you a diagnosis. You are in our thoughts and prayers. In December, I want to meet the smiling and friendly Yvet I have heard so much about on the boards. I look forward to meeting a "pain-free" smiling Yvet onboard. Hang in there! :wizard:

Sending lots of pixie dust for some explanations from the doctor at your next appointment and a speedy recovery. :flower3:

:grouphug: Wishing you a relatively comfortable and pain free wait until your neurologist appointment.
I hope they find a reason AND solution right away so that you are happy and all mended in time for PCC2.0!!

Let me add my good wishes to those of the other DISers. Take care of yourself and feel better!!

See you soon on the cruise.

Here is an update!!

Wednesday i had my appointment with the Neurologist and i can tell you that it was not a very nice and warm person (and then i'm keeping this very clean)......
It was the type of doctor that shouts your name runs back into her office and stands behind her desk so that if you don't give a hand she won't for sure. Of course i'm the person that doesn't like this so i walked up to her and handed her my hand and i introduced myself (we never got her name).

But she did a medical examination (didn't needed to know where if you poke my back it hurts)..
Then she recommended another x-ray this time of my right hip and also an MRI of my back.

The good part is that i could go back to the waiting room and that the x-ray and MRI would take place there and then.

After the x-ray and MRI the Neurologist called me back in her office and she told me that both the x-ray and the MRI looked good and that it wasn't a Hernia so i must make an appointment for Physiotherapy.
And that was it!!!
I tried to ask a few questions but she didn't answered those she refered to the Physiotherapist to answer these questions and otherwise my family doctor.
Okay and thank you soo much.... NOT!!

There is a good thing and a bad thing about this.
The good part:
We know know it isn't a Hernia.
The bad part:
We know know it isn't a Hernia.
What is it then and how can we fix this and when does this gets better......

Back home i called the Physiotherapist for an appointment and i could come the next day (Thursday).
That afternoon i went back to work and also the Thursday morning i worked.
I'm not working my normal work because of the morphine i'm not allowed to have patient contacts so i'm doing all kinds of administrative work.

Thursday afternoon i went to the Physiotherapist and she also did a medical examination and she found out that the middle part of my back isn't moving at all.
That is probably because there is some damage done there (not as bad as a Hernia but still some damage) and by shutting down that area my back is preventative helping me not to hurt it any further.
So the Physiotherapist wants to do some treatment not by giving massage but by giving me some exercises so i can help my back relax again and help my back problems with other muscles so that way the part that isn't moving now will start moving again.

We made a new appointment for upcoming Tuesday and she told me that she isn't expecting that the problem is solved very soon (that means not before this upcoming trip in December).
But i'm positive and i'm hoping that it all will be over before we leave in December.....

I will keep you all updated about my journey....

Yvet - I think we should all meet in the spa for massages. They can work on your back and my feet and legs. Maybe we can get a doctor's note for this.

Yvet, I hope that you feel better soon with the PT therapy. I hope that the doctors find a solution before your cruise.

:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard: Here is some PD from WDW for a quick recovery and a pain-free cruising for you.

Yvet, I am glad you got to see a Dr. I am sure you are frustrated with the lack of information. I hope you get some relief from the exercises and Physiotherapist.
