DD Sarah got her moped license yesterday (actually a learner's permit), but we didn't find time to dig out the beastie. This afternoon we were doing some yardwork. When we were finished, James dug the moped out of our storage shed so that Sarah could ride it. When DW Sue and James went inside, I dropped my crutches and hopped on the moped. I rolled down the driveway and, believe it or not, the engine fired up. I took off down the street and Sarah went inside to rat on me. When I got back from my ride around the block, Sue was standing in the driveway with "that" look. You guys know the one I'm talking about. I tried my best to explain that, even though the doctor told me not to drive a car while my ankle is in a cast, he didn't say anything about motorcycles or mopeds. That didn't pass muster. Sue just turned around without saying a word and went back inside the house. I handed the moped over to Sarah the snitch and proceeded to watch her drive up and down the block for 15 minutes. When she was done, she parked the moped in the shed and we finished up a little more yardwork.
The good news is that I was only in the doghouse for a couple of hours. Sue is speaking to me again. At least I think she is speaking to me. She said that she could use a couple of Long Island Iced Teas. I wonder if I'm responsible for that.
I guess I had better take her and the kids out for dinner. I wonder if she'll let me drive.
