Wow, I am finally here! I cannot believe it. This is day 2 of 21 days.
I flew via Hawaiian Airlines. Very nice. Such pretty music to listen to! :charac2: :rockband: . Since I am not a size 4, the seats were quite snug, and rather diffucult to read my book. But I just kept saying to myself, " few hours and you will be in Hawaii"!!! So hard when person in front of you moves their seat all the way back.. :scared:
I arrived in Oahu and tried to find my way to the Baggage Claim. I think it was a mile walk? Not that I don't mind a nice walk, but I don't enjoy it when I am not sure where to go! :confused3 . My daughter and son in law (dressed in Army dress uniform) was waiting for me with a beautiful flower lei! :welcome: :flower1: . So pretty and smelly (in a good way).
Once we retrieved my luggage, we dropped SIL at his work. Drove towards her place but before we got there got a call from SIL to pick him up (was able to just go home for day). and relaxed. Got to see my grand furbabbies :cat: :cat:
Daughter and I then drove to Navy Exchange and roamed, browsed and had a happy meal.
She showed me Ford Island and I saw USS Arizona Memorial to the left of the bridge.
Later on we drove to Ala Moana Mall and had a bite to eat at the food court and browsed some.

Today, dd drove us to the Swap meet at the Aloha Stadium. She lives just a mile or so from there! I really liked that place. Great deals! I got a photo frame for $7, 3 luggage tags for $5, T-shirt for dh for $5 (very large size to boot).....I am going to get a woven basket for my boss for $15 next time we go there. Tons of hawaiian themed items. so fun. Many sellers.

DD then drove me around Pearl Harbor Navy base. Went "big" grocery shopping at Hickam Air Base. Home to relax. Later tonight going to Pearlridge to make appt. for our nails to be done. (heeee :yay: :cutie:

Tomorrow, dd and dsil will be going to Schofield Base for some military family training....and I will be alone? or I COULD walk out of base housing and try to catch THE BUS (#54) to go to Ala Moana Mall for some browsing. hummmm
Not sure If I am brave enough...heee heee
here are some photos...maybe not that exciting, but this is all I got for now.

I need to transfer more photos...and will take more of course in the days to come.

Glad to hear that you made it. I will be going there for 19 nights starting Dec 27-Jan 14, I hope.

Nice to know you made it safely. Nice pictures. Keep us updated and have lots of fun!

Now to the important part... What are you bring me back! :rolleyes1 Just kidding!

Glad you had a safe trip. Have a wonderful time!!

Balcony??? Don't you mean "Lanai"? ;)

Have a wonderful time - I'm jealous! We're going this summer. We'll be spending some time in Oahu and then visiting my brother and SIL in Kona. It's great to have someone to visit there, isn't it?

My Mom is in Hawaii right now taking care of my grandmother...I am originally from Hawaii myself and your pictures bring back memories.

My cousin was born in Tripler Hospital and I remember going to the flea market at Aloha stadium and eating banana chips while my parents shopped. :goodvibes

Thanks, have a blast!!!

Glad to hear that you made it there safely. That is a nice lei. Be sure to have your daughter take you to a luau to try the different Hawaiian foods.
I know that before you went on your trip, you were unsure of how things were in Hawaii, but you are now able to experience it first hand :thumbsup2 .
Have fun and enjoy.

You look so happy and beautiful. Enjoy your trip and the time with your family.

I heard that the BX was the largest in the world. Is that the one that you went to? Have some taro chips for me.

Go get on that bus! Go explore and have fun! Just reading this thread makes me want to go back to Oahu. I loved flying Hawaiian Airlines. It was the first of many times that we would hear "Aloha!" and "Mahalo!"

One of the things I miss the most is the weather on Oahu. It was perfect, not too hot and certainly not too cold. Every single day was in the eighties and sunny, and at night I don't think it ever went down below mid-seventies. :goodvibes

If you like shopping, don't forget Hilo Hatties. Probably not as many bargains as the Stadium, but you have to experience it!! :goodvibes

Have fun and keep us updated!!

I decided today I will stay back, do some cleaning for daughter and organize my mess, take a walk and there is a point where it has great view! of downtown/waikiki area. TOMORROW, I will get on the bus, I promise.

Went to Pearlridge Mall last night for just an errand (make appt. for nails) and gosh! the traffic! at 6:30 on freeway to Pearl City was terrible! packed! One does not see that when they are in Waikiki area only. (gee, what a priviledge? :rotfl: ).

Oh, and the NEX exchange is huge. I don't know if it is the largest, but it is incredible! and so beautiful when you enter! The main enterance has like a rotunda and when you look up they painted a beautiful mural with whales and all....beautiful!!! I did not have my camera, but will bring it next time.

Okay, here is a stupid thing I did on 2nd day there. Gosh,
I vacuum. You know, mom being busy and helpful... So it is a bagless vacuum (like I have)...and I am thru and take the garbage bag and the vacuum filter down to toss in and empty in garbage.... I get down to the garbage bin and toss the bag (with no problem) and then take the vacuum filter and put it in and start emptying and tapping (It was full!!!!!, geesh) and what do you know I drop the filter!!! Oh geesh, this garbage bin is the kind you have to climb in!!!! ,So I go upstairs to tell DD20 and she is so sweet "Oh, that's ok, we needed to get a new filter anyway" (actually, they could have gotten 4-5 more months out of this filter)
Geesh! dopey mom trying to help out.

Here are a few more photos you normally would not get to see.....

Wow. Thanks for sharing your pictures and your stories. Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip.

Thx for sharing your trip and adventurous pics! We did 4 of the Hawaiian islands years ago and it is DH's favorite place on earth...LOL!! Have a wonderful time with your D&SIL and make the most of your time there. Such a beautiful place with so much to see and do......forget the vacuming....LOL!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the photos. We used to live in Hawaii, in Ewa Beach which is at the top of Barbers Point air base.

Love, Love, Love Pearlridge and Ala Moana! If you get a chance drive to the other side of the island to Kaneohe, it is such a beautiful drive.

I hope you will continue to enjoy your Hawaiian trip. I know I enjoyed both our trips there. You sound like you like to stay busy on vacation. Isn't the weather wonderful?
