It's raining and lightning here, but we also have had mice in our house. The light in our utility room is flickering, my dryer and washer don't work, there was a chemical-like burning smell, and I am worried. Could mice have chewed the wires?

Our kitchen and my master bathroom actually have no power so I assume the wires are interconnected. Meanwhile the other rooms in our house have power.

Ummm, shall I call an electrician and what will they have to do? I've already reset the circuit breaker twice.

Thanks.

I'm not an electrician but I would say if something keeps tripping the breakers you have a definate problem. Breakers trip to keep a circuit from overloading or from anything bad happening. If you can get along without having that breaker on until you can get an electrician in, I would keep it off. Maybe get an industrial extension cord and run the power to your refridgerator to another room? Better safe than sorry.

For those who care LOL....

I ended up calling my neighbor who told me they were having electricity problems, too. Lots of neighbors ended up calling our power company. We were all having the problem of everything working in some rooms yet not others, like the kitchen. :confused3

A crew came out and it ended up to be a bad cable next door. They worked on it until 2 am this morning.

I have electricity now at full capacity. :)
