Thanks to all that commented about being an adult back in school. It helped me greatly.
DH and I talked more over the last 48 hours about it, and figured out exactly what we were spending my paycheck on...basically stuff we "could" do without. Thats a good thing.
I have made an appointment with Vermont Student Assistant Corp, which assists with financal aide/student loan applications etc... I meet with them this coming Tuesday.
I went to Vermont Adult Learning, not knowing what it was, and spent 3 hours there taking some tests. I guess these are GED tests? not quite sure, but out of possible 580 on each test, my lowest score was a 550. YEAH! It made me feel pretty good
I sent for the admissions info for Vermont Tech College. I expect that this week. I also emailed the Director of the Nursing program with some specific questions regarding the site I'm looking at. Also asked for as much info as she had on the program. This was this morning, waiting to hear.
Now, I just need to resign from my job. I need to do this sort of in the near future, because they are going to need to hire someone qualified before our busy season starts, which is late March.
One thing I am very grateful for is the fact that DH and I have always had a security egg in our savings account. I can't stress this enough to everyone, how even at a time in my life now, where it's not an emergency, how great it is to know my car payment can come out of that for the next 2 years and be okay. I had always heard you should have one, and DH and I decided about 4 years ago to build one..boy am I glad we did. I can now sort of relax a bit, and concentrate on doing what I need to do to get this degree.
I have called a local Community College, and asked to be contacted immediatly when the summer program opens. I want to take an Algebra and Biology class this summer. These are not required, but can't hurt.
So thank you everyone who helped me have the courage to follow my dreams! I appreciate it more than you know.
