For all the people that have luke warm relationships with family members. I went looking for a birthday and Easter card for my mother (whom I only recently started talking to again) and she despises funny cards. What can I say...there is a reason we have a luke warm relationship.

She once asked me why I always buy her funny cards and never bought the caring deep feeling cards. I just shrugged and quickly refocused her attention by pointing out someone who was chewing with their mouth open (she hates that too).

So while I sat there begrudgingly sifting through the sappy cards I found that I couldn't give her any of the cards and live with myself.

So, I'm going to start a new line of cards. You know, stuff like "Mom, I got caller ID specifically because of you. Happy Easter!" or "Thanks to you, I'm keeping Xanax in business. Happpy Birthday!" or "You warm my heart when you pick on my parenting skills - Thank You".

Anyone want to buy some? I'm taking orders. ;) I'm gonna be riiiich! :teeth:

:rotfl2:

I love it! The "I got you this card because it's expected and I really don't want to get into a stupid confrontation about a card" collection!

I want one that says, "Mom....in honor of this holiday, don't call me. You only call when you want or need something done or if you need advice about something. So, do me a favor and leave me alone. Call some of your friends who were always more important than I was. Oh, and I could do without the guilt of not having a baby this holiday. I figured not being a druggie loser was good enough, but since you're so thrilled with my cousin simply because she can reproduce on heroin, ask her for advice about picking a health insurance plan."

I'd like it to have a big picture of me, standing in front of the big house I built when I was 25, holding my law degree that I paid for myself.

Sorry! I started that line years ago!! I always try to get something that says "Holiday Wishes" ...thing is it does not specify what the WISHEs are!

yes. sure could use those for all of DHs family. He can send them to them since I don't bother with them at all anymore. :thumbsup2

I wish they made more nice ones though for Dad and his wife. She is only 9 years older then me and there is no way I could or would refer to her as anything but my friend or his wife.

Awwww man. I'm always just a step behind.

I need one for my sister on her wedding anniverary..she HATES her husband. Nothing fits, I thought about a get well or condolence card but settled with ignoring the day :confused3

I once saw a card for an anniversary that simply said "Another year of wedded bliss". :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How about "Happy Birthday, Sis! And thanks for all of the Therapy bills! :teeth:

I'm so sorry about your Mom, I think the most important thing in the world is a child's relationship with their mother. I see, like my Mom, you turned that around by being MosMom.... My mom had an emotionally distant mother but she made us her world!

How about a whole card line entitled "I Told You So". Perfect for those family members to send out for any appropriate occasion. I told you you shouldn't have moved... I told you you shouldn't have taken that job... and for those newly separated...I told you you shouldn't have married him.

Bridget, you'll probably make a killing! :teeth: Your sense of humor obviously didn't come from her! :goodvibes

I know what you mean when you say that can't give her the sappy cards and live with yourself. When I find myself having to buy a card for someone that I feel lukewarm about, I try to pick a generic/general one.

Rrrrrrita! Happy Birthday girl! I just left you a message over on your birthday thread. princess: :grouphug:

Ahhh, you're fine. There is PLENTY of business to go around, even with all you card makers working on it!

Put me on your list!!! Just about everyone in my family would get one EXCEPT my mom and my child!!!

Can you make one to send to cantw8 about her new love for her neighbor's dog? That deserves some sort of acknowledgement!!

Sign me up!!! I need a whole line just for my SIL.....and some for my mom. :teeth:
