Hi everyone, well I will be going to my very first CROP this Saturday and will start to learn how to scrapbook :goodvibes

Look what I found, well ok to be honest my dh found it for me, right around the corner from my house...

http://www.creativecraftsnj.com/

I stopped in and it is a new place that just opened, and this is going to be my new hang out........:rotfl: I also already got to meet a CM consultant, so I am so excited, I packed up some of my things tonight that I think I will need to get started. They have a cricut there and punches, and all kinds of stuff for scrapping... (<-- did I say that right?) that I can use, so I will learn what I will want to buy and what I will not.

Now I do have a question for all you advanced scrapbooker's. What is a nice CROP bag to purchase. I have been looking at some at Michael's, but have not yet purchased one..

So if anyone wants to post of pic of there crop bag I would greatly appreciate it....... :thumbsup2

Update: I did not get to go to my first crop, as I got ill from getting my H1N1 vaccine the day before.. I am just now feeling better and back to normal... I am hoping to be able to go to the next one. :yay:

I am looking into the WDW Crop in August... :goodvibes

I have my preference for bags. I will caution you to make your selection wisely, many bags collapse just after a little use. Look at what is offered on the market before chosing what is best for you.

A suggestion until you decide what crop bag will be best for you. I have started taking a small tote with my basic cropping tools, and a 12x12 iris craft box (plastic, holds 12x12 paper and is several inches thick, snaps closed) filled with the photos, paper, and embellishments I think I will use that day.
This works very well if you are going to a crop with tools that you can borrow. Cuts down on dragging lots of stuff that you wont use, and keeps your completed layouts nice.
Have a great time scrapping!

I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to buy a bag!

In my 11 years of scrapping, I've been through several - Started out with a crop in style XXL - it was too big. Gave it away and bought a smaller one, which I still use. For a weekend long crop, I take my tool bag which is a All My Memories thing with a zillion pockets and a turntable - usually sits on my worktable. But for shorter crops, I take my few tools in a 'glovebox' (now traded in for the pink plastic box I got at Lisa's crop) and my page kits in a pizza box.

What you buy will depend on -
  • how much stuff you actually USE.
  • Whether you need to store your entire stash in it at home, or will just use it to go to crops.
  • How much you can lift (one of my issues with the xxl).
  • How much space there is at the places you crop.

I'm lovin' the new line of Daisy Chain at Creative Memories. I have the tote and the caddy but I want the weekender for weekend crops.

I have a bag that was a limited edition from Chatterbox, it looks like a vintage suitcase.

Do you think the DR would give you the all clear to go to Disney in August? We have a big crop there every year. Here is the link.

Have fun! I have a Crop in Style XXL. Sometimes it's too big, sometimes it's too small. I tend to bring everything but the kitchen sink though ;)

I have that All My Memories circular thing with pockets and I love it! I can carry it with me around the house to crop since it holds all the tools I use most often. For example if I'm watching TV, I can carry it to my TV room, or if I'm finding a place to work with my kids, I can carry it there.
As far as crops go, I have the old Creative Memories black bag and I've found it holds up well. I also have something on wheels, but I don't think you need all that for starting out. Don't jump the gun- wait and see how mich stuff you accumulate!

You're going to have a great time Saturday! I'm no help on the bag, I started out with one, moved up to a bigger one, outgrew it and got a bigger one on wheels, the handle broke and it pretty much fell apart (cheaply made), and now I'm back in the one I outgrew. I just have to take along a couple of other things when I go to a crop.

I am not a bag person, I take too many items. When I go to a crop I take a rolling file (from an Office store) with about 3 of the Iris 12 x 12 containers with plain and pattern paper. My small items like glue, scissors, ect. I take in an Art Bin tackle box.

I have a hard sided rolling bag (I am not sure of the brand, I got it at M's) it looks like a bigger rolling suitcase. It holds a lot and I find that I can take it, my cricut, and a 12x12 cube of paper and I am good. I have not been to too many crops, but I went to one last weekend and had a great time. Can you imagine going to a crop at Archiver's?! I would spend more time shopping than scrapping! :rotfl2:

Yikes!! reading this makes me nervious! Im looking at going to a crop a half hour away soon. I dont even know ANYTHING about crops (except for the ones we grow in our feilds). I have scrapped places other than home but I just take sissors and some paper and my pictures. I always forget stuff but the crop is at a scrapbooking store so im more relaxed. Will I look totally screwy showing up with my tote bag?

EVERYBODY will have some kind of tote, so no - you won't look screwy. And my view is = what do you care how you look, anyway, as long as you have what you need?

I am taking a "bankers box" on the Magic on Saturday containing two projects and a handful of tools. My husband thinks i'm crazy, but he just enables me and never says a word. I always take stuff on the road. Sometimes I use it, sometimes not - but the thought of a month without cutting paper is just unbearable.

The addictive thing about crops is that there is no right or wrong as to what to bring. It all depends on what you need to work on. One of the most productive crops I have ever gone to was the one where I took ALL of my photos, nothing else and sat there putting them into categories to crop. The only thing I had to run out for was ziploc bags and a sharpie for the photos. Another time, I spent it ripping old photos out of the old glue stripe peel and stick photo albums. Just enjoy the fellowship and have a wonderful time.

I feel better now. I have a green bag that I use to hold stuff since I do 8 by 11 or 8by8 albums so everything gets sorted into ziplocks.

Oh no, I'm sorry you didn't get to go! I hate that you weren't feeling well, but I'm glad it was just side effects and not something more serious.

Steph

I'm sorry you didn't get to go and that the vaccine got you sick.
Hopefully you can make the next one.

I hope you can go to the WDW one! It is soooo much fun!
