That's right, after many pms from other people (thank you), VMK is still not working. I deleted temp folders, cookies, uninstalled flash and reinstalled, and even reloaded my browsers. NOTHING WORKS!!! OH MY GOSH!! CAN'T VMK MAKE LOGGING IN EASIER????? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Rant over. Please pm me if anyopne can help. I need to enter my code for my treehouse!!

Blue does it happen with more than IE? Like firefox also? If so, perhaps you start thinking about things like the XP firewall setting? (if you use XP of course)

in order to really diagnose your issue, we need more information on your computer and setup.

Are you on cable, DSL or dial up?
Do you have Windows XP or another version?
Do you use IE, Firefox or Opera?
Do you have a router?
Are you connecting wirelessly?
Do you have any firewall software such as Norton Security Suite?
Do you have any other network/internet related software on your machine?
Are you getting an error? what happens when you load VMK?

DSL
XP home
IE and Firefox
yes. Netgear RP614 v3
No, conecting strait from router (hard wired)
AOL security.
Macafee and flash(?)
No errors. The bar stops 1/16th of a way and stays there.

Maybe it's AOL secutity?

you can elminate all the stuff you mentioned off the bat, because IE and firefox do not share things like temp files and all that.

I would suspect mcafee security center or the aol security center. Is it something you can turn off momentarily to test? If it works, you will want to figure out how to let vmk through without shutting it all off

DSL

AOL security.
Macafee

DINGDINGDING ....we have a winner I would try turning off both of those and trying it. AOL and Macafee are both notorius for blocking things n their own

i dont know any of that stuff, or how to do that, so my best opinion is to just try it on on someone elses computer or other IP Address. if it works, its probably Your IP or computer.

Then my suggestion is getting a new computer/laptop...

Sorry i have no other suggestions. im not great with the whole ' cookies, internet, stuff ' lol..

But, GOOD LUCK! :)

I'm pretty sure it's the AOL security. I have McAfee (and so do a TON of people I know that play VMK), and not one of them has ever had problems relating to VMK.

Grumpster,

I use Mcafee without a problem. My bet is on AOL just due to the problems so many people have reported about AOL and VMK.

Also, you didn't mention it but is your XP security running? If so, that would mean you have three different, and conflicting, security programs. I know that XP does not like Mcafee running and vice versa. I picked Mcafee just because they have small trucks to drive through their security than Microsoft ever will!

i have alot of aol programs inclueding the aol safty on my computer and vmk loads fast with it and same with out it.

I have aol and havn't had problems with VMK. When I first created my character I did get a pop up asking if I would allow **** to run. sorry don't remember the name but I clicked on " always allow *** to run whatever. Sorry for the non technical terms, but I wonder if that might be the problem.

I did have a problem with getting yeti vision codes with AOL, but that cleared up when I made IE the default browser.

Hope something is helpful to you, if not, I will try to answer any aol questions you might have

that was kinda the point i was making Dara. I had macafee and it didnt play nice with very many other security programs so i am almost sure it would conflict with the dreaded AOL Virus

usually whenever you have two virus protection programs on your computer, it will totally bounce around.

I would say get rid of one of the two security programs, because they like to fight over things. One will say it's okay and one will say it's not okay.

I had a friend who had McCafee and PCillin on her laptop, and the computer would move like a snail...

They like to fight and argue a lot.

Hope this helps.

I highly doubt buying a new computer is the best suggestion, maybe it has to do with they're ISP blocking the site? But that's highly unlikely either, I would suggest removing McAfee and trying to login to vmk and then if it works, try reinstalling McAfee. Good luck.

it probably is AOL or Macaffe.. although, my sister has Macaffe on her computer, but has no problems. Maybe because she exits it? :confused3

the thing is, even if mcafee and aol security work out of the box for VMK, it doesnt mean a setting wasnt changed that would make it *NOT* work. I would definitely start there. If you right click on the mcafee icon in your tray you can disable it, I dont have aol security but I bet it has something similar.

I dont recommend you leave them off, just for a test, see if you can get it working. Then turn it all back on and go through the options to see what piece is breaking you.

Good answer Aengus. I reread someybody's post and saw that he had deleted and reinstalled shockwave and flash . I am betting that when he did that, one or all three of the security programs either did not save the permission settings or detected the new versions of the players as a change to the "shell" and denied them access. I am not to familiar with either AOL or Macafee programs but you should be able to find a way to reset them both to default. That should make them both ask for permission for any programs that access the net. By allowing prgram by program access, that should solve the problem with out having to disable both (actually all three if the windows firewall is enabled)of the security programs

AOL uses Mcafee, so I don't think they would be in conflict with each other.

In addition to adding McAfee VirusScan Online and McAfee Personal Firewall Express (these are custom versions of McAfee VirusScan 9.0 and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus), AOL also beefed up its spam control settings to let you set your spam filter to Low, Medium, or High, in addition to blocking specific e-mail addresses.

OP what version of AOL are you running ?

Macafee is a very quiet program. But AOL monitors everything and tells you what it's done. So, when I reinstalled flash, AOL came up with a miniwindow saying "Flash allowed to the internet"

hmm...
