Thanks to a very supportive supervisor, i'm enrolled in a Disney Institute leadership course in early August :cool1::cool1::cool1:. It is three days of training. Sessions will be at the Contemporary. And there was a discount for being a DVC member :banana:

Now for my question, i got a studio at VWL :thumbsup2 but will need transportation to the Contemporary each morning and afternoon. I know there is a boat the goes between the properties. I don't want to chance it and be late in the morning, so my question is....

how much do you think a taxi would be between the two?? the boat will be fine in the afternoon. I did try for a BLT studio, but the VWL came thru on my waitlist, so that's what I got and really happy about that. I checked rental car prices and they are way to expensive for what little use I may have for it - $350 - $400 for a compact for 6 days. I'm going early to have some park time before the training begins on Sunday evening.

thanks to all :cool2:

We stayed at WL in December and the boats were very frequent. I'm not sure what time they start running but they were very frequent and efficent. I have no idea how much a tax would be. We relyed on Disney transporation and went to the Contempory several times for Chef Mickeys and my DD just liked riding the boat.

The two resorts are actually very close and I think there is a back way that you may be able to walk and it may not take more than 10 or 15 minutes. In the morning the smaller Bay Lake boat will go directly to the Contempory from the WL and it would take all of 6-7 minutes tops. Otherwise a taxi would probably not cost much at all as it is less than a mile. Another option would be to take the boat from the WL to the MK and then hop on the monorail as the first stop is the Contemporary. May I ask how much the DVC discount was as I am also interested in this leadership conference. Thanks.

The discount was $100 for DVC members. And I got a credit of $144 for the three 1-park after 4:00pm tickets that are included in the base price since i had an AP. all the pricing info/date/topics etc are included on the web site.
My program is picking up the cost of the tuition and I'm paying the other cost. having DVC made it doable since the room is "free":rotfl2:

i'll check out how early the boats run. I'm not opposed to taking a taxi, just wanted to know about how much to expect. I do not like being late and it would make me very anxious to be waiting on a boat :rotfl::rotfl:

thanks - :woohoo:

We stayed there last summer, and the boats make a 3 way run. In the AM it is WL to CR to FW, and then around. In the afternoon, it switches and does WL to FW to CR.

They run continuous, once they start and I believe there are two of them going at all times. We never waited for more than 10 minutes for a boat and ride from WL to CR is no more than 5 minutes. I believe they start early as one was running when I boarded the boat for rope drop at MK.

Have a great trip!

I don't know how much a cab from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary is...but I do know that as a general rule, cabs at Disney are considerably more expensive than cabs where I live (the Wash, DC area)...

I took one from SSR to All Star Music four years ago and it was $20...I took one summer before last from OKW to Poly and it was $35...I took one a couple of months ago from BLT to the Peabody in Orlando and it was $48...

I would expect from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary would be substantially less...but perhaps (depending on your familiarity w/cab fares and your home area) more than you might otherwise expect given how close the two properties are...

The key is probably finding out what time the boats and the buses start their runs...there will be a bus to MK as well as a boat, and it's no more than 10 minutes to walk from the MK bus stop to the CR...I think the buses are likely to start by 7, maybe as early as 6:30...you don't say what time your training session starts, but if it's at 8 or later, you absolutely can plan to use Disney transportation if you so choose...and it's quite likely that a call to Disney will tell you what time the boats start the day, if no one replies on this thread...

And speaking of replies on this thread: an earlier poster mentioned a back way that's walkable? Does anyone know about that? I'm an early-morning hiker and would LOVE to know how to walk from BLT to the Wildnerness Lodge (and Fort WIlderness)...can someone post that info? THANKS!!!

LSUTigger, I'm totally jealous of your plan...it sounds great! Have a wonderful time!!

Thanks everyone for giving me good suggestions and calming my anxiety :goodvibes

I'll inquire when I arrive and then decide what to do. The only time I take a taxi is when I travel. I was in Seattle last weekend and the taxi from SeaTac airport to the hotel in downtown Seattle was $40 plus the tip. i got a bus shuttle back to the airport for $11. Go figure.

I'm really hoping the training is going to be outstanding. I figure anything Disney has to be good.

Last month my son took a taxi from AKL to the Marketplace. I think he said it was $25.00.

I would think there must be a better way.
