When I originally booked my package, they took my credit card for down payment and they told me that the remainder was due July 3rd. But, they didn't tell me that I had to call back to pay! I couldn't figure out why it hadn't shown up online yet, so called to inquire and found out that I had to call to pay the remainder.

Would have been helpful if they had told me that!!

Kinda a weird to take your card but not take any monies out?

They only use the card for the deposit... you have to call back and make your final payment... they can't just willy-nilly charge your card for the remainder...

It was through Costco, which is basically through Disney...when I called today to check she said that it's a privacy thing--they can't charge you the full amount until you call back, they can only charge the down payment.

But...shouldn't they tell people that? Or do they usually and just forgot to tell me?!

They usually make it clear. But then, certain ways of communicating can result in different understandings. For me, "we'll take your deposit, and the balance is due July 3" would have me calling on the 3rd. For others, it means that it'll automatically come out. Not all CS people understand that, so they might have thought they were being clear, but it turns out they weren't.

Glad you got it figured out!!!

I, too, have always understood it to mean that I have until that date to make the payment. The customer has to authorize the charge to the card, and sometimes use a different form of payment (Master, rather than Visa, etc).

Exactly, I purchased a package through Disney a couple of years ago. I had to pay the down payment when I ordered it which I charged on my Disney Visa and then was told that the balance had to be payed by a certain date which I than called on. I am glad it worked out for you :) Have a great time.
