I've always been tempted to start a blog of my travels, and have been thinking that it will be a great way of keeping people up to date while I'm at WDW this year.

My first blog entry: A road trip around the South Island that I done about 8 months ago.

Let me know your thoughts :goodvibes

Another photographer extraordinaire! STUNNING pics - you do realise all you photographers out there you are making the rest of us here feel very inadequate...or rather, its a challenge that we have to lift our game! Interesting blog too...I enjoyed reading very much. I think we stayed in the same accom at Mt Cook...and I agree, touring NZ is a world class trip and is among our top 5. Now we will expect a blog this for every trip!!

Thank you both for your kind words :-)
Also, thanks for the compliment about the photos. I contribute them to an easy to use camera with powerful zoom.

I have only just realised how awful iPads make blogs look. I just opened up my blog on the iPad and cringed at the way it shrunk all the pics and threw them out of line. With this new found discovery, I went and opened Shushh's blog for the first time on a device other than my iPad, and marveled at how much more impressive it looked. Does anyone know if there are iPad settings to change this?

Wow amazing photos. My favourite part of NZ is Arrowtown and surrounding areas. Great blog.

It most likely was the same accommodation ( Aoraki Alpine Lodge). Pickings in the area are pretty slim.
It wasn't anything fancy, but the views outside made it one of my all time favourite hotels.

Thanks OzCath. :-)
Arrowtown is probably my favourite town in NZ also. It's charming in every season, but in Autumn it's absolutely stunning.

Lovely. Is Arthurs Pass where Roaring Meg falls are?

Some of those places are familiar to us from our 2000/01 six week trip. We're looking at going back in a couple of years but probably to the North Island only.

Pretty sure Roaring Meg is near Cromwell (further south than Arthur's Pass). It's the out-spill from the hydroelectric dam.

There is a huge waterfall in Arthurs Pass that you can see from the road, but it's name fails me at present.

Stunning photos Wanderlust. We were also at Warbirds over Wanaka last April, and really enjoyed it :) . And then we were back in Wanaka again in July for a ski trip. And we are off down to Arrowtown ( staying with my brother in Queenstown) to do the Motatapu Miners run (DH is doing the Mountain Bike from Glenorchy to Arrowtown) in March. I love Central Otago, it is a beautiful part of the country :thumbsup2

Hi CarolineNZ. What a coincidence that you were also at Warbirds. :-). My husband loved it and has requested that we now go every two years. Yay, more Sth Island holidays for me.
It didn't feel right to start a travel blog and not begin with our own country first. There's so much to see and do here, which I think a lot of kiwis take for granted.

Next blog entry in process - Fiji (my happy place).

WanderlustNZ, great start to a blog! And what stunning photos. I'm paying close attention because I'm the only left in my family who has never been to NZ!

Blogger has a mobile version because the web version isn't always friendly on the eyes and easy to navigate on a mobile device. To a certain extent this does depend on how you set up your blog, however would hold true for most. You can set your blog to only show the web version I believe, but as previously mentioned, this might make it hard for those who read using a mobile device.

As for the ipad, usually down the bottom there is an option to view "web version" and if you click it, it should open the more glorious version :thumbsup2

Good luck!

Fabulous, thanks Shushh :thumbsup2 That button to open the web version was staring me straight in the eye and I didn't see it.

I'm so impressed with you blog. I love how you've got all the little added extras around the outside of your blog (countdown clocks etc). I still have a lot of self-learning to do but, if you don't mind, I might need to pick your brain a bit once you get back from your trip.

Thank you :goodvibes A little flattery never goes astray lol. It was a little overwhelming at first but there's a lot on the internet to help. If someone like me can do it, then I think most people can. Please feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to help.

I've always said that Fiji would be someplace I go to when I'm older. Your blog just made me re-think that.

Thanks for sharing. Lovely pictures and wonderful insights.

You've sold me on this one-have to share with some best friends who treat themselves to Fiji every 2-3 years (the only holiday they ever take) - I know they would love it too! A joint week one year could be just the thing.

Thanks PIO. :-)

I too thought that Fiji was a place to go when I was old. Either that, or never. I was quite shocked by just how much I loved it actually.

Already thinking I'll have to make a booking sometime in the next 10 months for Christmas and New Year 2014. My MIL is already sold on the idea (she asks almost every month when we are going back), we just want to see if we can convince a few more friends and family as well.
