Hey everyone,

We leave exactly two weeks from today for my first trip to WDW as a Vegan.

Melanie - a new vegan. I just made the transistion to a vegetarian last November. I had been wanting to do it for a while, and contemplated doing it before our Disney trip last August. I also just made the transition to Vegan at the beginning of May. I also thought I'd maybe wait to try it after this years Disney trip.........but was eating vegan at home and finding it was really easy to eat out and eat vegan so I just continued and haven't stopped.

Bill - Definately not a vegan or a vegetarian but he does eat the vegan foods I cook and is a very willing participant in trying new things. He has tried and loved a vegan version of chili dogs (vegan chili, smart dogs, daiya vegan cheese, hot dog bun), Tempeh taco's, grilled tempeh and many other things. I'm slowly working on getting our household almost vegetarian/vegan..........but for some reason he keeps bringing in stuff I'm tyring to replace.

Taryn - 18, just graduated and going off to College this fall (a 16 hour drive from home - yikes)

Ryan - 12, He is also very willing to try whatever I make. In fact he absolutely adores the Crispy Strips by Gardein (these are so yummy)

Here is my live trip report that I did last year until I got so exhausted from staying up so late I didn't finish it.

We are staying at POP from 7/17/10 - 7/31/10

Our first 5 nights 7/17-7/22 will be room only with no dining plan. Bill is in the Air National Guard so we have free tickets to Sea World and are getting 3 days worth of Universal tickets. Our first 5 nights will be just Sea World and Universal.

Our last 9 nights 7/22-7/31 will be at Disney. We got the QSDP this year. We are planning on only one sit down meal this year (Boma). We normally do almost all sit down's with few counter service restaurants thrown in there.

I've really enjoyed reading all the vegan/vegetarian dining reviews and can't wait to share with everyone. They have really helped me with planning on the vegan items at WDW. I'm also really looking forward to using my snack credits on vegan items, especially since some of the items I have my eye on I've never tried before. I can't wait to try a Kaki-Gori!

So excited about your reviews! Will you be reviewing your food at SeaWorld and Universal, as well?

Can't wait to read your reviews... and I bet you can't wait to get there! :cool1:

Yep!!

I'm a little nervous about eating at SW, and
I'm planning to eat at Moe's in City Walk when I'm at IOA/US.

I'll definately make sure I post food at both of those, especially since there is so little info about eating vegan there.

This year I won't have Internet, but I can probably handle a live food report via my iPhone and upload pictures each day easily. I'm definatev not going to do a full live trip report that wore me out last year.

Melanie, maybe it was you who mentioned Moe's a few weeks ago. I did some investigating and ate at a local one yesterday. It was great... someplace both my omni son and I can both appreciate.

Thanks so much for the lead! :worship:

Yep - that was me. It will be my saving grace at US/IOA :)

Looking forward to your reviews! :goodvibes My sister is vegan and I'm mostly vegan (since she's the main cook at home!), so I always like seeing what our options are.

5 more sleeps and 4 more full days till we leave. I'm working 9 hour days this week so I can work just 4 on Friday. We do summer hours in the summer at our work, so I'm doing them periodically throught the summer.

Here is our plan so far:

Saturday - Arrive at POP, go to SOG and get tickets and dinner at either Earl of Sandwich (Veggie w/cheese, have to check on dressings) or POP food court (veggie lo-mein). I also want to talk to a chef this evening about our stay and get a tour of the menu's and what is/isn't vegan. I'll make sure to take notes too.

Sunday - SW - I got an e-mail from them about what I can eat and to talk to a chef or manager and hour before I want to eat there. The veggie burger is vegan, still waiting to find out on the bun. The veggie sandwich is vegan without the cheese and there is a veggie chili that you have to get in a cup (not bread bowl) w/o cheese. I also plan on getting some fruit as a snack with my meal.
For dinner, my family is planning to go to Hooters (they love the wings). Since I can't eat there I'm either going to go to 'Ohana by myself (have a late ADR). I'm hoping they change their mind and go to 'Ohana with me.
I'm also thinking maybe Jiko or Sanaa by myself........hmm!

Monday - Islands of Adventure
I plan on doing Moe's in City Walk. We will most likely eat back on Disney property when we leave the park. If we need to eat at the park, I'll do Moe's again. I can eat mexican food morning noon and night, so it's not a problem.

Tuesday - Universal Studios
Again planning to eat at Moe's and somewhere back on property after we leave.

Wednesday - IOA/US
Moe's again for lunch and then we have ressies for my birthday dinner at Boma!!!

Thursday- AK
First day on QSDP. I'm not sure 100% if I'm going to eat Restaurantasaurus, try to get a vegan pizza at Pizzafari (this is where my family is eating), or take a bus or drive over to AKL and have a falafel sandwich. If I had my choice, falafel is what I'd choose, but not sure I want to take the time to go over. Dinner wil either be at AKL (falafel sandwich) or someplace different if I go over at lunch.

Friday - DHS
Most likely I'll have the veggie sandwich w/o cheese at Backlot Express

Saturday - MK
Hopefull if open-Taco's at El Pirata y el Perico for lunch and the veggie sandwich at Golden Oak Outpost

Sunday - MK
DD18 and me are going to do the Key's to the Kingdom Tour with her new college roommate and her dad who will be at WDW at Saturday and Sunday. So for lunch I'll have the Lighthouse sandwich w/o slaw since lunch is at Columbia Harbour house for tour. Not sure about dinner. This day is extra for us.....not sure about dinner. I might try eating the Tabbouleh wrap at the Grand Floridian's CS.

Monday - DHS
Lunch Backlot express or maybe the veggie pita at Starring Rolls. Park closes at 7pm. Probably dinner at POP.

Tuesday - Epcot
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons and dinner at Tangerine Cafe.

Wednesday - MK
Whatever sounds good since I've eaten here a few times

Thursday - Epcot
Lunch Sunshine Seasons or Tangerine Cafe and Dinner at Biergarten (this will be interesting :))

Friday - AK
Same as previous MK day. Probably dinner at POP or maybe Mara at AKL.

Thanks - 2 more sleeps!! Let me know if anyone wants me to check on anything in particular when dining down there :)
