I need some help to figure out what the heck to do with all these beanie babies my kids have. Thanks to grandma and me :teeth: my kids have well over 200 stuffed animals/beanies. We try to keep them in their bedrooms but they cover the floor and you can't walk without stepping on them.

My kids play with them all the time, everyday. I have tried to sell them at garage sales, etc but they do not want to part with them. I just need some sort of solution where they can be stored, but accessible also. Right now I am using our big tall laundry baskets to try to keep them off the floor. There are 5 of them filled to the rim. They are big and bulky and frankly don't look that nice in the bedrooms.

I have seen those net things, but they always show them way up high in a corner. I just don't see them being able to access them to play with them.

How does everyone else store their stuffed animals?

When I was little my mom had one of those net things but she mounted it at eye level so that we could still get to them. You DON'T have to mount them in a high corner but low so that your kids can access them.

Welcome to my world!

My kids have captain's beds...the kinds with dresser drawers in them. They are all filled to the brim with Beanie babies!!

I also have a rope suspended from the ceiling with clippies on it that they clip to..but the kids are always to lazy to clip them...so it doesn't work that well.

My neighbor when I was a kid had a cool idea. He put a hook in the ceiling and hung a chain from it. Then he put little "s" hooks on the chain and hung the stuffed animals by their tags. Ones that did not have a loop for a tag got ribbon around their necks. They could fit a ton on it...

You could save 10 or so that they really like and donate the rest to a woman's shelter or crisis nursery.

That's my suggestion, too. Our police station has a stash of new/clean used stuffed animals which they give to children who find themselves there - something to comfort them a little.

A few years ago my husband and I made holders for our kids and neice and nephews that worked out quite nice. We got a wooden base, about the size of a large plate, a wooden pole, like a closet rod, and a finial to top it off. On the closet rod we drilled holes front to back, then up a couple of inches we'd drill side to side, so the holes would be drilled like an X or plus sign if you could look from the top. Then I sewed elastic pieces about 8-10" long in a loop and threaded that through each of the holes. Then you have a small loop of elastic on each side of the pole in each hole. Put a beanie in each loop. They kind of support each other and look like their on each other's backs. Painted them to match each child's personality and they worked well! I know this is clear as mud, but maybe this will spur you with an idea. Good luck! :sunny:

DH used to collect beanie babies when my DS was collecting. DS stopped collecting about 5 years ago, but he is keeping his collection. DH decided he needed to get rid of his. He donated over 200 beanie babies to our local hospital. They cried when DH told them what he wanted to donate. It seems that beanie babies are the perfect size for kids to keep with them while in the hospital and they don't get in the way of all the tubes and wires. And the best thing- DH took a tax deduction for the donation.

Do you want some more? I have over 300 hundred of them. They are just the bears. Please do not remind me of how much money I put into them. I tried donating them, but the hospitals around here told me they have way to many already.

I use mine to decorate for holidays. I right now have the spring/easter ones out on the hearth. I have a set for halloween, christmas, valentine's day, thanksgiving, just about every holiday imaginable.

Not sure, but I've heard that soldiers want them to give to the kids in Iraq. They first asked for Happy Meal toys, but found that the Beanies were easier to carry in their packs and pockets because they're soft.

No beanies here, but we're being overrun by big stuffed animals, I have some huge brightly colored bins from Target and a giant cedar chest. Good luck!

well I talked to the kids today after school about this again. They said that they would like to donate them!!!

They want to pick out their favorites (I said each could keep their BABs and 20 little ones) and then split up the donation between the police, a children's shelter and the Children's hospital!!

I am sooo proud that they are willing to do this. :goodvibes:

If it wasn't so expensive to ship them I'd say send them my way Peg and the kids can add them to their donations!!

Where in Ohio are you? I have a couple hundred I'd like to donate but I don't know if the Toledo hospitals are interested. I've tried a garage sale but no one wants them.

I'm north of columbus and the nursing home I work at might take them for EASTER basket stuffers, residents love them as bingo prizes.
One of my residents wanted a kitten so now she has a beanie kitten :)
