I'm debating whether to apply to a reality dating show. Waste of time or a real chance of finding "the right one"?

Is this for real? I'd love to learn more. I don't know that the actual reality show part would work - but whatever takes you on your journey gets you closer to the next chapter of life. Who knows who you might meet because of it ...

Go for it!

If you have nothing to lose, well as long as you are fairly sure you'll come off ok I would imagine it would generate interest locally. Just keep in mind it is a very public audition for dating so stay chill and I imagine even a loss would generate lots of dates back home if you appear to be a catch.

I've thought about it, but with my career I don't think it would be a good idea to be so public. It would be fun to see that side of things, though!

It is a tricky one. For me I guess it depends on the dating show. Bachelorette? NO. The new and improved Love Connection? Maybe. (and I have not heard of a revamp on Love Connection, but it is a dating show I thought of I would be ok with. IDK, :confused3, I'm old.)

You always have to consider the "spin" they will do. They could make you the sweetheart good guy, or the absolute villain. And they can edit you to make you the bad guy if they want. That's the ugly part. You have no control.

Depends on if you want to roll the dice. It could be a wonderful thing, or a nightmare. Have to weigh the pros and cons. And seriously consider if it could hinder you in the future with your real life, esp with career and family.

Oooh, question - would you be one of the options or the person choosing from options? It would feel not at all beneficial to be an option (but maybe that says something about my frame of mind 😂).

Waste of time. Stupid idea if you want to retain any semblance of privacy in the future. Great way to end up with every one of your coworkers talking smack about you behind your back forever. And every job you apply for in the future, your dating escapades from reality TV will end up in the interview or might even prevent you from getting hired at all.

OK, but other than THAT...
Put you down as a "yes"?
;)

I feel like there's something in the water/air. My favorite podcaster is on this season's episode of Survivor (which I haven't watched - and it's like your potential show, because I also would watch it and typically don't watch these shows).

So in general I'd say no.

These shows have always been a bit of a "scam" for lack of a better word.
Back in the day people like Andy Kaufman, Steve martin etc.. used to do these just to get the check and some exposure - lots of other actors as well.

In these days of internet clout and all that I'd say not worth it.
