I'm convinced Heelys are proof of a decline in civilization.

Are you the Heely police? :confused3 AOr are you just keeping score? :confused3 Do we get a prize if we say yes, or judged if we say no?

But since you have asked twice, I'll answer and say that my kids do not wear protective gear only helmets. Again, they are gliding at a very slow pace, not racing down a hill or running and heeling. They don't fall, nor do they run into other people. I'm sure I'll fall into the DIS category of horrendous, neglectful parenting now, right? :rolleyes1

I for one think it is admirable that you have your kids in helmets. I never get my kids into knee or elbow pads for skating or biking (they dont have heelys)...but I do insist on helmets. Head injuries are, after all, the scariest. So I say good job!

Well now I have never been run into by a kid with Heelys at Disney but I have many bruises from being rammed by those darn ECV's!! Should I start taking names when I get hit by one of those and sue them??

That would be up to you, of course. If someone hit me badly enough to cause me harm, you can bet I'd take some kind of action.

Somebody else already brought up this point, but the thing is -- those who are in an ECV or wheelchair 99.9% of the time, I'm betting, need to be in it.

Wow! All this over heeleys??? :rotfl2:

I've never seen a kid really whiz by...I also live in a fairly urban area. And our local supermarket is the only one to my knowledge that has banned them. And I thought they banned them because the kids were getting hurt not because they were racing or bumping into anyone. I could be wrong though.

My son isn't getting them because he's a menace to himself on wheels. He'd kill himself on heeleys. I rather doubt he'd bounce off of anyone. He'd fall first.

I can't get all excited over this crap. There's an election coming up.

And your purpose to post that was, what? To make fun of those of us debating them, and letting us know you're above all this?

Most definitely.

I just can't get worked up over something so trivial. I don't like heeleys but I'm not going to sit here for upteen hours talking about them being the bane of my life.

.

You just reinforced the point I made earlier. You're kid isn't getting them because he's a menace to himself. Good for you! Other parents haven't figured out (or don't care) their kids can be a menace to others.

No you should just knock them down like the people were suggesting earlier in the thread to kids on heelys. :sad2:

I would never condone knocking down a kid on heelys "just because" - nor would I delight in seeing them fall on their butts.. However, if an unsupervised child were to knock me down and cause me physical injury - or disrupt my vacation (as was the case in December) - you can bet your life I will take the appropriate action to deal with the situation.. If someone does cause me a problem, yes - there's going to be problems - but it won't include knocking them down, tripping them, or laughing at them if they fall..

Then I'm referring to you am I? :confused3

No - I don't think you are referring to me - but comments similar to yours have been made several times on this thread - and others - regarding Heely's..

Yours was the last one posted and rather than go back and search for the others I used yours as a reference.. Sorry.. I should have just stated my views without quoting you in particular..

I find it funny that they take the tripping comments so seriously.

Some children (with or w/o Heelies) are being raised to respect others -some unfortunately are not. Those of you who have taught your children how to behave in public (with and w/o Heelies)- Thank you.

Those parents (who are probably never going to read this as they probably aren't here on this board) who let their children run wild and be brats - well I am one of those elderly and disabled folks, but I will look out for myself. If there is ANY choice of who ends up splat on the floor it will be the brat NOT me.

Would I knock down a 3-4 year old - no, I'm not that mean. But I'd take out a 10-12 year old brat who was threatening me in a minute. If someone is going to end up on the concrete floor with a broken bone, I would prefer that it not be me or my 86 year old father.
I won't necessarily be laughing, but I was dead serious about preferring that the wild monster brat (with or w/o Heelies) end up on the floor not me.

NOBODY would be laughing if they ended up on the floor under me. :scared1:

:duck:

I find it pathetic that someone would suggest it and others followed suit and laughed about it.

That's too bad..you could have ignored something that was not even remotely seroius of a suggestion. :confused3

(and note--I didn't follow suit, I didn't laugh at it, I just ignored it. :confused3 )
