I am going to WDW for my first time in two weeks on my delayed honeymoon with my husband (married 11/02/02)

Every book I read has recommended getting to the parks early. Like an hour before they open early and I am confused if I can use the buses (staying at Port Orleans French Quarter) to get to the parks mega-early or if we'll have to drive.

Also, how does early hour effect buses? Do they pick up for the early hour even earlier?

The buses do start running quite a bit before park opening. (I'm not sure exactly how early - but I'm sure it's at least an hour early.)

The hour early thing may be a bit of an exaggeration. The parks used to routinely open before the stated time so, if you were there early you got in early. It's my understanding that, with the new security and tighter belts, that doesn't happen as often anymore.

We ALWAYS use Disney transportation and have stayed at PO (Riverside) many times. You'll hear pros and cons, but, for us, it's part of the vacation to just sit back, relax, and let Disney get you there and back.

Have a wonderful honeymoon!

I agree that it's an exaggeration and a waste of time. It does help a lot if you're at the parks at opening or shortly before and transportation can take longer than you think. However, once you've determined how long it takes you to get to your bus stop and allow 10-15 or so minutes for the ride and up to 20 minutes to wait for the bus, you'll be set. I've not stayed at POFQ but I imagine the buses run even more frequently than every 20 minutes first thing in the morning???

Busses start running for the theme parks approx 1 hour prior to opening. This means if the park opens at 9:00am, the busses start getting dispatched at 8:00am. If the park has Early Entry, then the busses get dispatched at 7:00am. :) Never fear, we will get you there in plenty of time. And yes, the busses do run more often than every 20 minutes during peak times.
