Okay, I'm starting tomorrow and I thought I had it under control but now I'm confused. I did a search for induction and read several ( all I could find!) threads about induction and here's where I get lost:
1. veggies or no veggies?
I didn't think I was supposed to eat veggies during induction but then I read about others eating them so...?
2. diet drinks?
I read about diet rite it's available at my grocery store. Can I drink it or not?

I'm really serious about this and want to loose the weight whatever the cost. In the past, when I have dieted, I did have the ability to really lock down. So, is it better to eat absolutely nothing but protein? Eating veggies and diet drinks okay but better not to or it doesn't matter?
Thanks so much. I have a feeling I will be looking for lots of help and encouragement in the next few months!

You can have up to 3 cups of Induction approved salad veggies, or 2 cups salad, 1 cup approved veggies. a day. NO MORE THEN 20 carbs/day. Go to Atkins.com and type in 'Induction' in the search feature. There will be a list of approved induction foods. Print it up and eat only the foods on that list for the first 2 weeks of induction. Good Luck.

What karebear said! AND you can have Diet Rite. You need to drink lots and lots of fluids - LOTS!! and it should be mostly water - but you can vary it with a little Diet Rite. If you choose, you don't have to have the salad or vegetables - nor do you have to have them everyday. But you can have them. Just be careful about counting carbs in everything. Use fitday.com to record everything you are eating and drinking - it's really interesting to do and keeps you on track. One more thing - it's not protein you are after it's fat - be careful to keep your fat % high - add fat to everything - mayo, butter etc!

Feel free to pm me or any of us Atkins folk if you need someone to talk to or have questions. And keep on posting! And there are at least two other people starting today - pm them! It is wonderful to have someone to talk to who's going thru what you are!

I limit my veggies to lettuce and onions on 'induction'. I also still drink diet coke. You will need to determine what is best for your body and go from there. Good Luck and you CAN do this. We will be here to help. :)

Hi tina! I am starting the Atkins induction today and I am confused about a lot of things too! :) We can be confused together. :teeth:

I think that I will be spending a lot of time here and on various Atkins sites for the next few days until I feel a little more sure of myself.

We can help each other out. :)

Good Luck!

That would be great Beth! Please feel free to pm me anytime. I have to go eat my boiled eggs now:tongue:

Sausage links for me. :) (I am not an egg eater, but I would like to try some of these quiche recipes.)

What are you thinking about for lunch? I think that I am going to have a cheeseburger - sans bun of course. ;) And some salad with full fat ranch dressing.

One day at a time Tina! THAT'S how we can do this. :)

That's a great lunch Beth!! One of my favorites is a Chicken Caesar salad! Yum! :)

If you don't have the book (which is really an invaluable resource! I just saw a 3-pack at Sam's Club for just under $25... it had the New Diet Revolution, Dr. Atkins Cookbook, and a separate carb counter), check out these links. You need to understand WHAT you're supposed to eat, WHY it works, and HOW to do it, if you're going to succeed.

I started Atkins today too! I made it through day 1 a lot easier than I'd expected. I was really nervous about starting because I really want to do induction the right way. Please feel free to PM me, too, if you need support. I don't know the answers to many of your questions yet, but I do know that if we hang in here together we will make it!
