I'm blue today........

I know I shouldn't be down, but I just found out today that I am being moved out of my current position at work and will be taking on a new role. Unfortunately, where they are putting me, I have worked in that department before. It is not as interesting as my current job and I am not confident that I will be happy there. I know I should be happy that I have a job, because our company has downsized next to nothing! I have been here 19 years and have had 5 different jobs here. So I guess, they are just utilizing my experience. But out of all the jobs I have done, I feel that my current role suits me and I really enjoy it. They will be chopping it up and giving different parts to different people, because of financial issues

Thanks for letting me vent, as of course this is a confidential matter that I can't discuss with anyone until it becomes effective on July 1.

They were nice enough to tell me before my vacation, so it would not be a shock when I returned.

Just keep a positive attitude. You never know you may actually like the position. Don't go into it thinking you won't like it. People have a sense of that and you don't want to offend anyone.

Just try to look on the bright side, as you say, you still have a job and that's a pretty silver lining these days

Thanks everyone. I have had some time to let it all sink in and I know in the long run, I'll be OK. I am just glad to have a job at this point and I feel kind of guilty complaining about it. They actually have given me a choice of 2 different jobs and I can think about it over the weekend. My current boss felt that I would like a variation of my old job back, but I think I am going to take the other one that was offered. It too is a variation, but of my current job which I am much happier in.
