Well I'm back, my vacation is over!! :smooth:
Had a great time. Weather was hot and sunny. We gorged ourselves on $25.00 worth of ice cream at Ghirali's (was soooooooo good though). All had a great time. Met a fellow Diser on the bus. Hi Disney Aggie. Saw this woman wearing croc's so I asked if they were comfortable. She said yes, and that she read about them on the Dis board. I told her, me too!!
Anyway had a blast, my grandkids had a good time.
So now to start planning for next year!! :cool1:

Hello fellow Disers!!

Well I'm not much for writing trip reports. Just wanted to say that we had a great time. I was surprised that we pretty well walked right onto everything. Not alot of crowds. The most time waiting in line was about 15 minutes and and that was on the Friday afternoon at MK.
Soarin was great. I kept thinking I was going to lose my sandal in the San Francisco bay as we flew over it.
The only complaint I had was that the weather was very hot and humid, but I'm used to that living in London,Ont. (and what can you expect in Florida!!)
We lucked out with the weather. Not a drop of rain during the week we were there.
Got myself a pair of gold 50th anniversary mouse ears, but never did manage a dole whip (well something to look forward to next time!!). Saw "a net full of jello" (lol) at Muppet 3D, and the umbrella at MGM and saw the hanging man in the Haunted Mansion, and the hidden mickey on the table scene at Haunted Mansion. We even took a trip to some of the "posh" resorts to check them out.
Pop Century was great. The new section, across Hour Glass Lake, looks like it's going to be great. It's the 1900-1940's. Will probably try that if it's open next time I go.
My nephew and my grandkids had a great time.(and so did the adults!!LOL) I can hardly wait to get the pics back.
We weren't even asked for id crossing into the US. He just asked where we were going and how long we were staying. Told us to have a good time. It took us longer to get back into Canada!!LOL

Tell me more about the hanging man in the Haunted Mansion :earseek:

How is the second half of Pop Century going? Are there any signs of them finishing soon (ie. giant icons)?

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the golden ears and how much did you pay? My DD can't wait to get some and she wants to pay for them herself

thanks

Hey CanaDave

We didn't go all the way across the bridge to see the newer section at Pop Century. The building was up, but didn't see any roads or icons or anything.
I'm sure it won't take long. I'm kind of wondering what kinds of icons there will be. Giant printing presses and Lincoln Logs??? LOL

I got the tip for looking for the hanging man from the DIS tips board. In the small room that you go into first with all the stretching pics, if you look up just before you go into the ride area, you will see a person hanging. You have to be quick as it only lasts a second and then the ceiling appears back again.

I got my mouse ears at LeChapeau, at the back of theConfectionary.. Just as you enter the Magic Kingdom park, just past the train station on your right hand side. They cost $11.50 (the reg ones are $7.50). I figured it was worth it since they will only be around for the 50th celebration and I won't be around for the next 50th!! lol. They did sell the hats everywhere though, but I got them there because there are only a few places where you can get your name embroidered on them.(no charge)

Hope this helps.

Thanks GrannyEv...my DD will be so happy when I tell her the price for the ears...she was expecting them to be more.

Disney shouldn't have a problem with icons for the first half of the century....so many Disney classics...Fantasia, Cinderella, etc..When we were at Pop Century in Feb. 2004, it looked like it was well on it's way.

Thanks for the tip on the hanging man...we'll look for 'him' on our trip
