Hi everyone,

It's been a while, I have had my hands full.... I have really missed all of you, I have perused around when I had a few minutes. Now hopefully I'm back and can catch up with all of you..

My parents health has been shaky at best. Goodness the doctors appointments that I have been to in the last 6 months with them has been mind boggling to say the least. I've become that lady you see in the doctors office with a huge tote bag, with snacks and water, and giant 3 ring binder.... I'm very thankful that they both have leveled out. We just got the first of year test results and such back, while not really much improvement, nothing was any worse. So I call that a win win..

I had a bad bout with my allergies. I was suppose to see a allergy specialist ( last year) they have canceled my appointment 2 times and rescheduled for June. It's been 6 months since I was suppose to see them. I feel great now... so debating on keeping the appointment or not.

Then we had this whole thing with my desk top, and Spectrum, had to install a new modem and of course that wiped out everything. Lets just say what a pain in the fanny that was...

I have been doing alot of cooking and trying new recipes out. I have quite a few new meals and dishes that I have added in to my repertoire. :thumbsup2

We have been doing alot of entertaining as well.

As locals we have been in the parks alot lately, just Saturday we were at Disney Spring for lunch. We celebrated my grandson 8th birthday. Hit the Lego store...it was crazytown in there. It was such a beautiful day... Ended the day with ice cream at Ghiardelli.

So how is everyone doing?

Welcome back. :-) :welcome:

Hi there!
Glad to see you again 🙂
Thanks for your life update - it does sound like you‘ve had your hands full - thanks be to God that your parents are doing better.

Thanks for asking how we are all doing.
Life Is good for me - my DH and I are empty nesters now, which has been a big adjustment, but it’s been a positive adjustment. I’m still doing my DIS polls, which are always fun.

Great to have you back ::yes::

Welcome back! I feel for your struggles. My father was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma two years ago, during Covid. I'm in Chicagoland, they're in Maryland (eastern shore), where they moved after my mom retired. They only knew one person in the development when they moved -- in the three years, they have met some neighbors as well. But what a mess trying to get there and back. My brother's in North Carolina.

So fortunately, I'm able to work remotely and I'm in MD now helping with what looks like may be his final set of doctor's visits. It's so crazy the number of appointments, labs, etc. that they have to do. One thing my mother did at the onset was to limit the number of appointments to not more than one per day, unless they're in the same facility. Smart.

Hang in there.

Glad to see you again! I always enjoyed your threads on shopping for bargains, cooking for crowds, saving money, etc.

Oh my goodness... I have been using my family as guinea pigs for all the new recipes that I have been trying out. Lol...

Honestly the price of groceries... well really everything is so ridiculously high. I have been really honing my skills to use up what I have, and let nothing go to waste. I will say that I did not even have to a major clean out the freezer like normal in January. I am doing alot more planning, and cooking larger portions of proteins, and creating different meals for during the week. I stopped at the farmers market last weekend and did not buy anything... sticker shock. Stopped at Aldi on Monday and plenty of really nice veggies and fruit options, and the price's were right.

We also just joined Costco... mainly because my DH wanted some serious heavy duty shelf units for the garage, and they were each 100.00 less than at Lowes, so even with joining we saved 140.00 dollars. so Yay!

Thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad to be able to have some time to chat with everyone again.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will include your Dad in my prayers.

Good point on the doctors appointments, Luckily they both go to the same clinic and it's a huge clinic, so it is easier to schedule their appointments.

I had to get a large old school desk pad calendar for them to keep everything written down on. No more separate calendars here and there and everywhere. I have the same one on my desk at home, so that I can keep up with everything. When I go over there I update their calendar with what I have going on. It helps us keep everything straight.

I also bought 2 baskets for their med's, and a spiral notebook... inside there is a list of each of their med's in case of emergency, as well what they are allergic to, as well as their doctors names ... this was a huge help for the EMT's, on several occasions. My mom takes alot of med, and uses alot of prescription eye drops, so she writes down when she take them, my dad helps her keep up the log book, as he calls it.

We did take care of all the legal stuff, I have dual POA for both my parents, medical and financial, and we had a direct conversation on what their wishes are, and both them have a will, and DNR in place. While this is a hard conversation, once we took care of it. It was a huge relief for them as well as myself.
