Have returned from having a lovely time, will write a mini trip report soon.

I'm not sure I would want to stay in the DLH again, it was nice and I've done it but I've had better service in the Sequoia than I did at the DLH.

I wasn't impressed with the breakfast scrum, thought it wouldn't be so bad at the DLH, boy was I wrong! It was worse than the Sequoia!! And we were there for breakfast at 7.30am!!

Am debating whether to email and complain about one of my b'fasts as I am a coeliac and have to ask the servers for the Gluten Free B'fast items, never been a problem at the Sequoia but the Staff at the DLH were not bothered, kept passing me off to other servers and eventually this waitress said I'm not your server but I'll see what I can find in the kitchens! Eventually she came back with a plate of 10 little cakes and threw the plate down at me! When I enquired if there was any chance of bread or crackers she just said there aren't any and walked off!! A great breakfast choice for a diabetic!!My poor sister wanted tea to drink and we never saw anyone offer any tea, it was just the coffee on the table! We were not impressed and even now I am simmering over it!!

That really is terrible! My Mum is Gluten/Wheat intolerant, so not quite so severe as a Coeliac, but it still means a day either feeling hungry from not having enough to eat or unwell and in pain from eating something unsuitable! That kind of service would have really upset her and, not trying to sound melodramatic, but it would probably ruin her day. I hope it didn't for you!
No one seems to appreciate that it's a serious allergy (like egg/fish/nuts) that can trigger really severe reactions, or think about how they'd feel if the only food they had for breakfast was 10 mini cakes! And NO TEA! Appalling. :headache:

(And there are whole sections on the website etc about the different allergy free/special diet meals available! Grr.)

Sorry. :guilty:
Rant over.
(I do sympathize though.)

I hope the rest of your stay was enjoyable, and you got some of the 'magic' back!

Glad you enjoyed your stay, disappointed to read yet another tale of poor customer care and at the DLH too:sad2:

Welcome home. Sorry it wasn't up to your expectations.
