I'm all alone on the November 27, 2005 Wonder

I'm bumping this early this weekend...the construction is still going on, and while we now have a roof over our heads, we now have no cable or satellite connections--same contractor "accidentally" cut the wires after he found out that the landlord will be filing claims against his insurance. We've been promised that things will be repaired by late today, but somehow I just don't believe it!

I really need this cruise!

This is this week's bump.

We're still tied up in construction nightmares (daughter-in-law and son now have no use of their bathroom after a major pipe broke in the ceiling during construction and flooded their bathroom with sewage), I still have no satellite TV, although cable modem is functioning again, and still have no electricity in my kitchen ceiling.

AND, to top it all off, my husband was attacked by a pit bull on Monday evening on his way home from work. He has a very nasty bite on his arm, and has limited use of his hand right now, but the doctors expect that he will make a complete recovery within a couple of months. I really need a vacation!

Beth

Beth,

what a time you are having. It's one thing after another. Hope your husband makes a speedy recovery.

I am also recovering myself. Not last night but the Friday before (6/10), I fell outside the grocery store and broke a bone in my left hand. I had surgery yesterday to have 2 pins inserted to stabilize the bone. Will be in a cast for the next 5 to 6 weeks. I really need a vacation too!!!!

Can still type with 1 hand and luckily I'm right-handed. Could have been worse......it could be November instead of June. Hopefully, I'll be well-recovered by the time we travel in November.

Be careful out there everyone.

Briege: I hope your hand is feeling better! Jim (DH) is doing very well. His arm has healed beyond all expectations, and he is expected to regain full use of his hand sooner than expected.

The construction is finally going along in the right direction...the window guys are here now, once they're done the siding people will put on the new siding, and then the roof will be finished. Maybe someday I'll live in a house with no holes in it again! Oh well, we live close enough to the beach that I'm getting a beautiful ocean breeze through all of these openings! Gotta look on the bright side, right?

Have a great week everyone...it's one less week we have to wait!

Beth

This week's bump! The roof is on...almost! Construction is moving along, and the landlord estimates that by mid-July my son's new apartment will be finished, and then ours will be done two weeks later. Wouldn't that be nice?

Have a great Independence Day, everyone!

Beth

Hi Beth,

Thanks, my hand is feeling much better.....only 4 weeks left until I get the cast off. Good to hear your husband is making progress and so is the house.

Am having a Disney Party on the deck tonight with the other 3 families going with us.............it's sure to be a blast.

Have a Happy 4th of July.

Briege

Beth,

Only 4 more months....can hardly believe it. Just another 2 weeks and my cast is off. Time going by fast. Can't wait!! Roll on November.

Hi, everybody!

I hope you're all having a good summer! This is this week's bump.

Beth

Hi everyone!

Roof is on, new windows are in, I finally have electricity in my kitchen (after almost seven weeks), but construction on my son's new apartment has been delayed until completion of the outside of the building.

For our trouble and patience the landlord has agreed to give us washer/dryers and dishwashers, so it's not all bad! And because of the water damage, my son's current apartment will have to be gutted when they finally move into the new one, so I was allowed some input into how it will be redesigned.

Maybe by the time the cruise comes I'll have my new apartment (even though the landlord now says the first week of September :confused3 ).

I'll see you all in less than four months!

Beth

Hi Beth,

Hope all is well with you. Our cruise is getting closer and I found some other people on another thread who will be on the 11/27 4 Day Wonder. We will have to arrange a get together on board. What's the best way to do that?

Briege

Hi, everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. Life has been hectic. There are three weekends in the summer when I have to work straight through without a day off, and last weekend (8/12) was one of them. My office sponsors and hosts three concerts each summer (in addition to all of our regular duties) which involve major national oldies acts and lots of classic cars. Last weekend, we hosted Tommy James and the Shondells, and it was the weekend from...well, it surely wasn't a Disney Cruise! The weather was awful (of course, they're outdoor concerts :confused3 ), the sound and light people were three hours late arriving, and the caterer forgot to bring the hot food. It all turned out fine in the end (great show, too), but it was exhausting!

As for setting up a meet, the best way to do it is pick a time and place, and we'll get started. I will be glad to do what I can, since I will already be on board the ship by the time all you newcomers arrive! Just before (or even during) the sailaway is a good time, because by then everyone is onboard, somewhat settled in their rooms and ready to party!

Let me know what you want to do!

Beth

Oh, my goodness! I just realized that we're in double digits! I've been so busy I even missed that! I'm going to pay the balance on my cruises today, so now I can really go into "planning mode".

Beth

Just bumping this up...

I'm officially excited now! I found myself watching the Two Palms webcam on Thursday to see Wonder sail by! In the end, we decided to go to WDW for one night before the cruise (Pop Century) and two nights after (CSR). We were going to skip it this year, but DH said the AP is burning a hole in his pocket and needs to be used again before it has to be renewed!

I got a great rate on a direct flight from Newark (we usually have a stopover in Atlanta which means a great run through that airport), so we're all set.

Of course, I just discovered yesterday that my luggage was destroyed in the earlier "roofless" incidents this summer, so I'll be shopping for new luggage this weekend. I will also be spending the next couple of weeks sewing some new things to wear on the cruise (including a new bathing suit, since I couldn't find any that really looked good this year).

It's time to start thinking about a meet. If you have any suggestions, post them here, PM me or email me and I'll see what I can coordinate (since I'll already be on board!)

Have a great week, everyone!

Beth

Hi, everybody!

There hasn't been any activity on this thread in a couple of weeks. I guess you're all busy getting ready!

Here's what we just arranged for the 11/23 cruise. We're meeting on Deck 10, all the way aft, outside Palo, at 3:15 PM for a quick hello. There is very rarely anyone there at that time, and you can't get lost if you go ALL the way aft. You'll be able to recognize me from my picture...I don't change much from one year to the next...and from the fact that I'll have my lime green Mickey head tag with my name on it!

If anyone has any other ideas, please let us know.

Hi Beth,

Good to hear from you again. Did you ever check out the other thread about 11/27/05??

I mentioned a meet to the other people on our group that are going and they were all excited about this. I guess the day at sea might could be the best time to meet as it would not interfere with excursions. I can ask my group what they think.

I know another time my group will definitely all be together will be for the Monday Night Football Game 11/28/05 between our Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts. I guess we'll be in the Sports area (Can';t recall the name offhand) for a couple of hours from 9pm. We will be easy to spot, all wearing Pittsburgh Jerseys or Black & Gold.

Hi, Briege!

Home Depot has wonderful paint samples in the shape of Mickey heads--the Alien Green one makes a perfect name badge!

As for the other thread, I have searched high and low and can't find it. If you have any idea what the title was, I'll keep trying!

I would suggest that we do a quick meet at the above mentioned location on the first day. That way, you already know more people on the ship! We can meet again on the sea day and see how everyone's enjoying their trip! We're having brunch at Palo on that day, but I don't think a noon brunch will interfere much with anything (except possibly my diet!)

We're not football fans, so we will avoid the Monday night football game so that all of you can have seats!

BTW, we'll already be on board when you get there, so keep an eye out for us. You can't miss Jim's bright red beard!
