I'm shocked, stunned, horrified, appaulled and mad with Disney !!!

Some of you may have just read that Disney have announced their Armed Forces Salute - open to active US military, etc.

Unfortunately, they have deemed it fit that coalition forces are not included. My husband has been serving in the Gulf in Qatar and has risked his life too in our ever continuing War against Terrorism and the War against Iraq.

I am so disappointed that Disney has done this.

It's not about the money, we have already purchased our 10 day world tickets for our summer vacation, it's just the principle of the thing.

I am complaining to Disney by email as we speak. Feel free to complain too.

Thank you for your stance against terrorism and help in the fight against it. I certainly don't have any explination regarding why the discount is the way it is. But the discount is certainly nothing compared you your family's sacrifice and not having your husband home lately. I hope your reunion and vacation are wonderful.

Well, I guess I have two views. One is a very gratefull recognition of the anxiety and dedication all military personal have demonstrated, especially these last months, thank you one and all.

Not specific to this case, there are several posts on this board from time to time expressing unhappiness about a discount offerred that doesn't include them for some unknown reason. I don't know that someone else's discount is a reason to be angry.

I personally believe that ALL armed forces, including coalition, should be eligible. Hopefully Disney will eventually see it the same way. Good luck!

Mary Kay, I recall a post by your dh and of course am thrilled he is safe. I am so glad you have a vacation planned together and of course wish the discount was available to you. I think you are diappointed at being "excluded" somehow and I understand that.

Just wanted to say, "Thank You!" God Bless you and your family. Hopefully Disney will realize their blunder and correct this oversight. Our Country needs the wonderful people of the Coalition Forces, and we are Grateful!

I agree with you. Anyone who fight along US should be given the same priviledge.

I am sure this is done because of economic reasons. Sad.

It's a shame that Disney's policy is so restrictive. You have every right to be disappointed. I was so glad to have to opportunity to meet you folks a couple of summers ago at Old Key West. I know that your husband spends many weeks of the year defending the rights of free people throughout the world, not just those of his homeland. I guess that the people of the United States needs to remember that we were by no means alone in our conflict in Iraq. Please convey my thanks to your husband for his service and to you for those long hours when he is away serving his (and our) country.

BTW - Watch out for those ECVs when you are at WDW.

A belated but sincere thank you to your husband and to you for your support. Of course, Disney should be offering this to all members of the Coalition forces. I know you are more upset about the principle than actually in need of the discount. However, you might try contacting SOG and see whether they are offering any ticket discounts to coalition members. You might mention your disappointment that Disney is not extending the offer.

I personally think that British forces should be included in this as they are fighting along side our soldiers. But, I wonder if maybe Disney didn't think there would be much interest from the Brits since it would be so far to travel, etc. I'm just trying to be optimistic that maybe Disney didn't intentionally exclude the coalition forces.

At any rate, I'm so glad that your DH is coming home safely - which is the most important thing. Enjoy your vacation at WDW this summer and maybe we'll see you there!!

My guess is that Disney doesn't want the hassle of trying to ascertain exactly who is a British or Aussie soldier. It would take a little work on their part, but I think it would be well worth it. And, I said so as much in an e-mail to them. Thanks for the link Stephen.

Oh, MaryKaye, I am stunned to hear this news!! Shame on Disney!! My DH and I were so happy to meet you, your DH and your beautiful daughters two (??) years ago at the Mini-Meet at OKW. Please accept our thanks--to your DH for his commitment to peace and to you and your girls for all the sacrifices you have made!! I think this is just another example of Disney not thinking things through. Like ordering the the wrong beds for BCV. Eventually, one of the higher ups will get the message that their good deed didn't go far enough.
